    I have no experience for this drug.

    For sleep I would say melatonin 1-2mg is the least harmful and can be bought anywhere in NL. I am on nortryptiline for different reasons and I find it manageable. Everyone reacts different to each medicine. There is a big chance your tinnitus will stay as it is.

    Dear InNeedOfHelp,

    In a message some time ago, you mentioned that after taking mirtazapine and paracetamol, you experienced a tonal spike in your tinnitus. I have also experienced this briefly (after mirtazapine and pramipexole). I am hesitant to try mirtazapine again. I saw your message and wondered if you have tried mirtazapine again after the incident with the tonal tinnitus.

    They were some clear tonal spikes, short-lived. The day after mirtazapine. Perhaps it was a reaction of the auditory system. It's a bit of a search for a way to support sleep somewhat.

    Sounds like fleeting tinnitus (sudden brief unilateral tapering tinnitus).

    Interesting as we don't know what causes that. I'd not consider fleeting tinnitus a spike personally. I think the least impactful sleeping med is Melatonine 2MG. This is used for jetlags and is available without prescription.

    Thank you for the analysis. SBUTT, that might be it. I have to be careful with high doses of melatonin due to my asthma. Next week, I have an appointment with my ENT doctor (head of a tinnitus clinic in Ghent, Belgium) to discuss the options with Mirtazapine.

    Hi there, I was wondering if the dental laser causes sounds to transmit to the ear similar to vibrations from a dental drill or if the danger in the laser is the sound from the laser traveling through the air to reach the ear externally? I'm going to get some laser dental work soon. Thanks.

    Hi, you can perfectly protect yourself against the laser sound with protection. i had a second cavity done this week. afterwards they will have to polish/grind down the filling. Takes around 30 sec. i asked specifically not to use the suction tube during that (had to swallow the drills water which is just normal water).

    My Tinnitus spikes very easy. I did not have a single bit of spike after both treatments.

    Thank you for the response Inneedofhelp. For the drilling portion after the laser, do you recommend no hearing protection due to the occlusion effect?
