  • Hi Kaelon. I have been suffering from H more than 8 months ago. When I had the sudden hearing loss I was given Cortisone, it didn't help me
I had a sudden hearing loss in my L ear. A T came along which worsened. I developed a severe painful Hyperacusis which ruins my life.

Hi Jorge, I have T and severe Hyperacusis as well I know how horrible it is and it definitely ruins the quality of life but keep your head up, we will have better days soon. For the mean time you should consider earmuffs or earplugs if you haven't already.

If this is new, Jorge, and you are within the first 72 hours of a sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL), you should immediately go to the hospital and attempt to get on a 14-day course of prednisone. Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary did a study in 1980 that validated that the chances of restoring your hearing can occur if you take the prednisone and start during the first 24-hours.
