Does anyone know if Dr. Shore's device will also be effective for visual snow syndrome (VSS) induced tinnitus, which apparently is caused neurologically? Despite this, at least one of my two tinnitus frequencies is somatic.

Probably they did it in the wrong spot, or with a wrong kind of stimulation pattern. Theoretically, DBS should work, the only exception is if it targets a wrong area.

When can we expect XEN1101 to be on the marked for tinnitus? 2024-2025?

No idea honestly, the trial(s) are ongoing but I don't see an opportunity for it yet honestly. Currently they are investigating the best target's i.e. the MGB of the thalamus and the best stimulation pattern i.e. HFS. If everything goes well, we'd see it in I guess about 10 years or so as...

If we're lucky, it's about 1-3 years from what I heard until XEN1101 would become available. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Only thing that describes tinnitus is thalamocortical dysrhythmia and hyperexcitability of different brain areas. The best approach would be some brain implant/stimulation or targeted meds. You'd have to watch some of Prof. Dirk De Ridder's lectures about tinnitus.

We all are not lmao. My tinnitus, for example, is purely neurological. Fixing hair cells won't fix a neurological condition. If you want to fix tinnitus, it's either through a really strong medication or brain stimulation/implant.

It's discouraging honestly. Tinnitus is 40 times more underfunded than depression, thus it doesn't have a decent treatment nor cure which will in fact require money.
