My Tinnitus Started to Flare Up This Past February from Slamming an Old Mailbox — Need Hope

I always have earplugs with me, but I do not wear them constantly. It is a tradeoff—I take precautions, but I also want to live a somewhat normal life. I have young kids who need a dad who is present. Even if I wore earplugs all the time, I could never be completely safe from sudden noises. It...

My Tinnitus Started to Flare Up This Past February from Slamming an Old Mailbox — Need Hope

I’ve had tinnitus for almost 30 years now. The first onset was in 1998 after a very loud concert. I habituated, and life went on. Then, in 2016, I went to a loud club and sat too close to the speakers. My tinnitus became much worse and reactive, but I habituated again. Today, I accidentally...

Passed by an Ambulance with Sirens On — Now My Tinnitus Is Spiking

That’s how it goes for people like us, unfortunately. Today, I accidentally slammed a swing door against a tiled wall right next to my ear. It immediately started ringing like hell, and now I’m scared shitless that this time I actually did some real damage. I took 900 mg of NAC right away and...

Passed by an Ambulance with Sirens On — Now My Tinnitus Is Spiking

Yes, it did. It took quite a while—several weeks—but it finally returned to baseline.

25-Year Tinnitus Anniversary and I'm Spiking Again After Attending a Concert

Sven is such a common name here that i didn’t even think about that it’s actually a Swedish name 😀 Thanks for the support!

25-Year Tinnitus Anniversary and I'm Spiking Again After Attending a Concert

Thanks, I hope you’re right. Even though I’ve dealt with tinnitus for more than 25 years, it still affects me every time something out of the ordinary happens. P.S. Bist du Deutscher?

25-Year Tinnitus Anniversary and I'm Spiking Again After Attending a Concert

It’s almost kind of funny: I’m lying wide awake in a hotel room right now, and in my despair, I’ve turned to this forum (yet again). The first thing I read is a thread title that almost perfectly describes my situation. My tinnitus will turn 27 this March, though it only became really...

My Dream Is to Get a Motorcycle License — Can Driving a Motorcycle Make Tinnitus Worse?

My thoughts exactly! I'm still not done figuring it out but there are some really cool electric bikes on the market already. If they weren't so crazy expensive...

My Dream Is to Get a Motorcycle License — Can Driving a Motorcycle Make Tinnitus Worse?

That’s a good example of what I mean. If it actually was 90 dB and your hearing protection was applied correctly, there can't have been any physical damage to your ears. Either it was not really 90 dB (a-weighted measurements don’t show the real noise exposure), the hearing protection was not...

My Dream Is to Get a Motorcycle License — Can Driving a Motorcycle Make Tinnitus Worse?

Hey Michael, I agree with everything you said. Hearing protection has physical limits, and it must be used correctly to achieve the level of protection it’s designed to provide. However, I’m not talking about situations so loud that noise exposure can't be brought down to a safe level. I’m...

My Dream Is to Get a Motorcycle License — Can Driving a Motorcycle Make Tinnitus Worse?

I’m reviving this thread because I’m currently trying to figure out if motorcycle riding works for me. I’ve owned motorcycles, mostly Harleys, for most of my adult life until my tinnitus severely worsened around 2016. After that, I sold all my motorcycles because every time I rode, my tinnitus...

    Do You Practice a Sport?

You’ll be fine. 95 dB impulse noise is far from dangerous. My tinnitus is quite reactive and I have never had any issues with any spikes whatsoever when shooting my bows (recurve and compound).

Prostate Infection: Enterococci & Streptococci — What Antiobiotics Are Tinnitus Safe?

Hey @defender, i don’t know how it occurred - it just started gradually. I actually did not take the antibiotics because i went to another urologist who did not believe it was an actual bacterial prostatitis. I drank a lot of herbal tea and it went away eventually.

Poll: Tympanometry / Acoustic Reflex — Did You Experience A Spike in Your Tinnitus Afterwards?

I don’t know if this helps you but my tinnitus eventually did get better after a few months. The refrigerator hum is basically gone. Still got tinnitus obviously but it’s really not as bad as I initially feared.
