Episode 2: A World Without Tinnitus — David Stockdale (British Tinnitus Association)

TRT = Tinnitus Retraining Therapy Well we have to say that @Paul Ramsay it is important that everyone with tinnitus gets it checked out. We speak to a lot of people who haven't yet done so. We're trying to change the attitude of GP's to tinnitus but that is a long journey. Thanks :)

Stop Giving Money to the British Tinnitus Association

Hello, A response to some of the main themes in here. Written in haste in between a million and one other things, as ever, so apologies for any typos. UCLH / Mindfulness Research It feels this has been discussed ad-infinitum on here, so not sure there’s anything else I can helpfully add to...

Thank you for all of the feedback! Thanks to @Hazel for answering the questions as they've arisen, doing a better job then I would - thank you. This is a personal opinion rather than a claim I'd say - aware other have different opinions. We're building links with a few of these companies and...

I didn't see any data like this presented. Doesn't mean it wasn't there though - there were 1,000+ posters and over 300 presentations, so only really got to scratch the surface of what was presented.

Happy to try! Although as said, a lot of the information was commercially sensitive or shared in cofndience. The main value was in the networking and building relationships.

I don't manage our website comments. Initial comments were deleted as apparently the contributor said they wouldn't be back to see any reply.

Long message as I’ll try and cover a few things at once. So looking at the statement that tinnitus gets better. Over time it does appear that people’s ability to manage/cope with tinnitus increases. What evidence is there for this? Pretty much every RCT shows improvement in tinnitus through...

I will respond to this but it will be in a while. Currently at ARO, lots of meetings set up with pharma companies, some doing tinnitus work already, others I hope to persuade to get involved. A lot on potential objective measures (which I think will be key) in animal models too.

Sounds like a good idea - could write something that could be sent to media local to you too - it's pretty easy to find the health editor or similar for a few outlets. See if you can get something covered locally, if you both can turn it around quickly enough and link it to Tinnitus Week, then...

Wouldn't have thought so. Just be clear on why you're sharing it and what you'd hope for as an outcome.

It is frustrating me that this thread has become me explaining how these things tend to work and why the story does fit the narrative people here want it to - I can see how this comes across as making excuses. You assume we're not contacting the journalist and team that put this together now...

No, you see nothing, nor do you know when or how it will be used. We thought it was going to run twice at 5 and 6.30, we only knew it wasn't running at 6.30 when we saw the 6.30 slot and it didn't air. Also didn't know @Steve wasn't interviewed until I asked him this morning! Until I saw the...

Nic did make these points, weren't used. People are there then to tell their own personal story, that's why they are chosen, to give their own, unique experience of living with tinnitus. The questions are asked about what happened to them, and the interest of the interviewer is getting their...

Not what I meant, apologies. I was talking in the context of getting stories onto the TV, to do that then, yes, we need people who will be willing to stand (or sit) in front of a camera. There is value in communicating stories through different media such as the written word but I was talking...
