    Dental Works

@terry b Sorry for very slow response - not a regular here anymore. Sore point. The dentist who removed mine advertised as an 'expert' in amalgam removal and said he used a throat sponge on his website. In reality he didn't and I nearly backed out but had travelled a long way and just wanted it...

    Barbiturates for Tinnitus

That's great, thanks very much! ... Edit to add interesting quote from the introduction: It seems there might be other reports to track down, unfortunately from before everything was on the internet.

    Barbiturates for Tinnitus

I guess it is possible that the results of the study were down to placebo effect, since this was not controlled for. I know the placebo effect can do very powerful things. Although it does seem pretty unlikely that it could make a serious case of tinnitus just disappear - if it could then we'd...

    Barbiturates for Tinnitus

OK, thanks for your trouble replying. From what you say it doesn't seem worth trying this out. I always resisted using benzos after the things I read about them and have never doubted that decision. I'm not worried about any danger of accidental overdose with barbs, but would only want to spend...

    Barbiturates for Tinnitus

Hi @linearb, I'm a bit of a dunce when it comes to pharmacology / how drugs work in the body, etc., and I have a lot of respect for your knowledge/experience in this field. Would you be willing to expand a little bit on why you think this, without getting too technical? Let's hypothetically...

My Turn to Post a Success Story

Hey, just wanted to add my congratulations. This is great news and you certainly earned this improvement. Thanks also for all the hugely valuable info you have shared. It made my day popping back in here and reading that you got such a huge reduction. :beeranimation:

This Is Your Brain on LSD, Literally

I wondered whether a possible hint was given in this passage from the second of the links posted by ATEOS: "On the other hand, within some important brain networks, such as the neuronal networks that normally fire together when the brain is at rest, which is sometimes called the ‘default mode’...

    @linearb cheers.... interesting stuff.

RL648_81: Synthesis and Evaluation of Potent KCNQ2/3-specific Channel Activators

Have you seen the inside of these labs? Apologies if I sound challenging, I just can't tell from your comment whether you are speaking from experience or conjecture? Also, were there problems with your friend's Suvorexant? Thanks for info.

    I Almost Did "It"

@erniej I think many doctors have a habit of doing that - not taking the possible negative consequences into account when prescribing. Doesn't help you to know this of course. The best gp I ever had was the one (the only one) who used to suggest waiting things out rather than prescribing...

    App Survey

I did it but was a little confused by Q8. I don't own a smartphone (only a windows tablet) but the survey insisted I tick a box on Q8, even though the question text seemed to say otherwise. Maybe just me being dumb.

Let's Induce Tinnitus in the World's Wealthiest People

Just as a point of interest, it would be easy to defend the OP's idea by reference to utilitarian moral philosophy. Utilitarians attempt to balance out the sum totals of the positive and negative consequences (crudely, the pleasure and suffering) of an action caused to all who are affected by...

Can You FEEL Tinnitus? Is It Better to Sit in Silence for a Bit to Habituate?

I can definitely feel my tinnitus as well as hear it - some days more than others. I agree with the comments that distraction is better than masking. I also spent a lot of time reading in quiet rooms while getting used to my new level of tinnitus. As you suggest, I think this helped me get used...

Is LLLT for Tinnitus by Dr. Wilden a Scam?

Just to clarify one more time in case it is necessary, I am definitely not saying that Wilden is the real deal or that LLLT is gonna solve anyone's tinnitus. @RaZaH & @just1morething you both express doubts about Wilden. Personally speaking I feel no urge to argue with how you guys expressed...

Is LLLT for Tinnitus by Dr. Wilden a Scam?

This is what I have been thinking. Putting aside the attempt to link Wilden and Shemesh, two separate contributors to this thread have: (a) accused Wilden of saying things he does not say, incorrectly using quotation marks in the process; (b) not acknowledged when (a) is pointed out to them; (c)...
