hi all
Im new to this site, and new to T (though I think Ive experienced it very fleetingly from time to time ??)
My name is Deb. I live in Geelong Victoria. I am 47 years old.
I am keen to build a support network with like minded people (locals would be great as there are no support groups other than T association). The past few weeks have been a roller coaster ride, and continue to be. I am hoping that I am either blessed with resolution of this symptom, or I manage to habituate like so many others I know or have read about.
In the meantime, here is my story...
I was hospitalised for a nasty external ear infection 28 November for which I received iv abs and dexamethasone for..sent home with oral abs..noticed ringing in right ear a few days later. have been shattered since! multiple meltdowns, feelings of extreme anxiety, depression, hopelessness, despair, fear, desperation. etc.......
I have been told by a reputable audiologist recently that I probably always had T (in the background) but never noticed it till I suffered with the ear infection. (this somehow cranked up the auditory amp making me aware of its presence). I have mild to mod loss of hearing in high pitches as evidenced on a hearing test a year ago. two subsequent hearing tests have demonstrated no further deterioration in my hearing. I have been told that I will habituate to the T. hmm.....
I know people have T without the hearing loss. i also know there are people with hearing loss and no T. Im still hoping that in time, it might resolve on its own like I know it has for others in similar predicaments. If it doesn't, then im forced, like the rest of us, to accept and try to habituate!
I have been off work all this time. I am going to try to return to work..now that I think i can manage to sleep with music softly on in the background. im still clinging to hope this will get better. It helps to know there are forums like this to communicate with others in the same boat.
