Spike in left ear so the doctor wanted it, also my first ENT appointment is in May so he said he'd probably want to me to have one anyway so might as well get it done.

I had my MRI Saturday morning, wore foam ear plugs & headphones. No worsening of my noise induced tinnitus, which I was expecting from some of the posts I read here. Might be of some reassurance to people who might be nervous about it. Expecting my results this week, although can't imagine there...

Yeah I'm the same, hear it above most things including driving, watching television etc. Shower is also the only thing that masks it... and playing with the band, except between songs due to the moulded ear plugs so I can hear just my brain noise in that few secs until the next song kicks in.

How severe is yours out of curiosity? Can you play music through speakers at low volume?

Never too late I think. 35 is no age at all. Do it, your mind will thank you for it. I play tag rugby & basketball socially, nothing serious. And I'm the oldest (I'm 39). That's along with playing in a band, being a husband and father of 3 kids. If you think getting back into martial arts will...

We all look so normal, happy & healthy... you can understand why people without tinnitus don't fully understand what we're going through under the veil! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee etc etc :cautious:

My wife. My kids. My guitar. My band. My hobbies. Most of all my brain... It's powerful and it's what is manifesting our lovely noise, so I try to train it to make the noise secondary to everything else. Sounds mad, but I say things in my head that nullify it like "noise is there but it's ok...

Bill does that a lot, he's part of the "told you so" brigade of spreading doom & gloom with a dash of no hope.

I haven't bothered finding out the frequency of my tinnitus, but in my left ear it's very high pitched like a faulty light fitting, tone in the center of my head is a bit lower, my right ear is lower again... all tonal, no hissing.

First of all congrats... secondly if us guys had to deal with pregnancy and tinnitus... I think the world would end :ROFL:. Hopefully yours won't get worse... try keeping away from this forum and Google if you can ;)

This is it... some people can park tinnitus, or accept it as part of who they are. Others can't unfortunately. There might be a reaction to this along the lines of "but you probably don't have severe tinnitus", "mine is worse than yours". Well I say how do you know? I might just be coping...

Have an appointment with my ENT in May... this post has put me off it. Especially knowing the cause... Noise-induced tinnitus.
