Withdrawal of Escitalopram Followed by Tinnitus Two Months Later: A Delayed Onset?

@El BUZZ, thanks and while I certainly understand the highway to madness I can’t help but think back to possible triggers when it spikes. My 97-year-old mother passed last week and it seems to have spiked again. Received a pile of sweet baked goods and recently started drinking coffee again...

Stress-Related Tinnitus Spike — Positive Suggestions for Coping Appreciated

Stress and anxiety seem to make my tinnitus spike as well. I now take 10 mg of Escitalopram every evening (started with 5 mg) and I think it may be helping. I'm also trying to exercise and eat healthier. Just spoke to another ENT yesterday and he’s very confident based on my hearing test that...

Forced Saline Solution Into Eustachian Tubes — Tinnitus Quieter as a Result

I no longer have any headaches but just a very slight ache in left ear on a couple of occasions. Tinnitus seems to have stayed toned down for the most part though it is up a bit this evening. I snacked on a bunch of salted crackers. Could it be the salt?

Cochlear Hair Cell Damage Simultaneously in Both Ears — Too Coincidental?

I've had pretty loud tinnitus the last few days and this evening my ears feel full and left ear has a mild ache. I've had the mild ache a few times before. I was wearing earplugs for a couple hours today because I was hammering a chisel breaking rock.

Tinnitus for Over a Decade: I Used to Love Going Out to Loud Clubs and Gigs — Now It's Become Worse

I'm 58 and am having trouble adjusting to tinnitus. I first noticed it around age 54 but it really spiked a couple months ago and was unbearable. I had no idea it could be so loud and I'm so sorry for you that are young. Please protect your ears and listen to your parents and grandparents.

Singulair (Montelukast) — Anyone Here Use It/Have Any Experience with It?

I took Singulair for years but stopped because of the cost a few years ago. I don’t even think I noticed my tinnitus until long after switching to other inhaled medications. I thought I recalled reading recently that there was some side effect from Singulair more recently discovered?? I’ll...

Anyone Else Develop Pulsatile Tinnitus During a Period of High Stress?

@Hamsti, I have regular tinnitus and hearing loss but wonder if a recent spike was stress/anxiety related. Timing sure seemed right. I am no expert but have you ever tried going for a good professional message. Never tried it myself but don’t see how it could hurt.

Will I Cope One Day? A New Tinnitus Sound Is Like the Music of an Arcade Machine

Mine really spiked a couple months back and lasted for a couple weeks. I suffered major anxiety for the duration. It was the worst time of my life. I’ve actually had a couple days of close to complete silence since then but it is usually at a level I can tolerate. Still above my base line of...

Loud Factory Job Induced Hearing Loss and Tinnitus

Meowmeowmeow, sorry my friend but welcome to the forum. Protect your ears and try and stay calm. I’m taking the same anxiety medication you are. I’m 57, my hearing loss is worse and also caused by excessive noise. I’m trying to live healthier through diet and exercise and it seems to be...

The Cause Was Generalized Anxiety Disorder — I've Recovered from My Tinnitus

I realize this thread is 3 years old but it still got me thinking. Fantastic that the anti-anxiety med cured his tinnitus. There seems to be endless causes and cures. What a crazy problem. How many people have suffered for how many years unnecessarily because they haven’t stumbled upon their...

The Valsalva Maneuver Substantially Lowers My Tinnitus

@Tweedleman, he prescribed Escitalopram 5-10 mg nightly. Currently 5mg. I should mention I had been taking it for a year or so previous to the tinnitus spike. The spike occurred a week or so after I quit smoking, quit coffee (6-7 cups a day), quit Escitalopram, started Rosuvastatin (for...

The Valsalva Maneuver Substantially Lowers My Tinnitus

@Poseidon65, very interesting, but to me we should be able to draw some conclusions from your observations on the Valsalva. Can we not conclude that your problem lies within your MIDDLE ear? The part of your ear that is affected by the Valsalva. I would just like to mention that I had almost...

A Fire Alarm Triggered My Tinnitus, Sound Sensitivity and TTTS

My fear exactly. Wind slamming door caused my last spike after waiting 4 months for the previous to settle. Juicer/blender, plates coming together, smoke detectors, dogs with high bark and then there is all the power tools which I used to make my living. Do they make hearing aids with a sound...
