I Developed Typewriter Tinnitus After Having Regular Tinnitus for Six Years

I am located in Germany. I contacted two neurosurgeons in advance and asked for their opinions. Neither had experience with my symptoms, but both said they would proceed if I requested it. I explained the facts and symptoms in detail and referred to the studies. Eventually, I contacted...

I Developed Typewriter Tinnitus After Having Regular Tinnitus for Six Years

Yes, an ABR test can help diagnose typewriter tinnitus or compression/contact between the artery and the auditory nerve. Please refer to the article linked above for more information. However, many people have an AICA loop without ever experiencing symptoms in their lifetime. Therefore, it's...

I Developed Typewriter Tinnitus After Having Regular Tinnitus for Six Years

Hi Cheryl, I am doing really well, and I truly hope it continues this way! My life has completely changed. In my case, it was very difficult for the doctors to determine if I had the AICA loop or not. My right ear was more affected than my left, where only minimal contact between the vessel...

Will today’s Ask Us Anything session be recorded? I won’t be able to attend, but I’d like to watch it later. Thanks for letting me know!

I Developed Typewriter Tinnitus After Having Regular Tinnitus for Six Years

Carbamazepine can help suppress the symptoms and is the only antiepileptic drug known to be effective for this. However, please make sure to consult your neurologist. It may either alleviate your symptoms or cause serious side effects, which might require you to stop taking it. I took 400 mg...

I Developed Typewriter Tinnitus After Having Regular Tinnitus for Six Years

I had severe typewriter tinnitus as well. After struggling for nearly two years without a clear diagnosis, I contacted a neurosurgeon. Based on our analysis of the test results, he suggested microvascular decompression surgery. While he couldn’t guarantee that the symptoms would disappear, he...

    Introducing Tinnitus Quest

What is the main difference to the Tinnitus Research Initiative? In any case, good luck with Tinnitus Quest! I hope it gets some more attention to this very frustrating disease.

Functional MRI Neurofeedback Outperforms CBT for Reducing Tinnitus Distress

There was a study on classic Neurofeedback in Marburg (Germany) for tinnitus with many participants in 2019. I talked after the study to the responsible person - Cornelia Weise (Psychologist). She said that it did, unfortunately, absolutely nothing in regards to tinnitus or distress, etc. It’s...

TU Delft & Prof. Dirk De Ridder — Bimodal Stimulation Device for Treating Tinnitus

There was a university in the US that did trials on vagus nerve stimulation (implant) combined with sounds. The name was "MicroTransponder" back in 2011 or so. The results showed not much success, otherwise they would have continued with that approach. I never heard again from any additional...

TU Delft & Prof. Dirk De Ridder — Bimodal Stimulation Device for Treating Tinnitus

I totally agree with @Nick47 and thanks @Christiaan for your summary. It seems Dr. De Ridder still has absolutely no clue with regards to tinnitus. Unfortunately, he is not alone... Almost all of his treatments and trials have failed. He is a good show master and can talk about tinnitus for...

New University of Michigan Tinnitus Discovery — Signal Timing

I think that if you don’t experience any relief within 6 months, it’s nonsense to proceed with the device. It’s the same with Lenire. This is also valid for Neurofeedback. The doctors have always told me about this 6 month period. It seems to be some standard neurological treatment limit.

TU Delft & Prof. Dirk De Ridder — Bimodal Stimulation Device for Treating Tinnitus

Is there anybody here who will participate in the trial? I live in Germany, otherwise I would have asked if I can participate. On the other hand, I was part of a study many years ago that experimented with vagus nerve stimulation alone. It had no effect on my tinnitus. Not sure if combining it...

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) for Tinnitus — Long-Lasting Everyday Home-Practiced Experiences

Wait for Dr. Shore's bimodal stimulation device (Auricle). I did LLLT at Dr. Wilden in the past - it was just wishy washy hocus pocus. No effect at all and many others have had the same experience. His son is continuing to offer the "treatment" in Germany and makes money from desperate...
