Pain Hyperacusis without Ringing Ears — Is It Possible?

I can share with my weird experience - when my hyperacusis ramped up, my tinnitus beceme a lot easier to mask. After my last big worsening in 2018 I could hear it everywhere, even on the street or max speed standing fan next to me. Then a few weeks later hyperacusis kicked in and even a...

Tinnitus Spikes from Opening Soda Cans?

Wow, it's really nice to know even after 5 years your hyperacusis can settle. I am almost 3 years after minor worsening (and a few setbacks during this time). Thanks for that, really.

Poll: What's Your Relationship with Alcohol Since Your Tinnitus Onset?

Alcohol used to calm down my tinnitus and hyperacusis but last year things changed and now it is completely opposite - tinnitus is louder and I have more noise sensitivity after alcohol. I don't know why that happened, maybe my body didn't like me drinking so often to calm down tinnitus to have...

Whistling Next to Ear Resulted in New Reactive Tinnitus, Distortion and Ear Pain

Okay, so at first about distortions - I had pretty bad distortions for 2 months (after sleeping with open window during thunderstorm, lol). Then it started to settle, now almost a year passed and I rarely notice them. So yeah, for me it improved a lot actually. Reactive tinnitus is harder to...

Those with Hyperacusis; Do You Also Have Sinus Problems?

I can add: my dysacusis is much worse when my nose is clogged. Feeling fullness in ear (i.e. after some noise exposure) = nostril on this side is clogged... Weird thing. Any of you have this type of symptoms? It's like my sinuses are trying to protect my ear by producing mucus or something.

Best Approach to Improve Reactive Tinnitus?

Any contiunous, high pitched or white noise kind of sound (like rain, frying food, sea waves, electric kettle) made my tinnitus spike. Interesting fact: music at 70 dB - no spike, my girlfriend frying chicken in the kitchen when I was in another room - spike. So it isn't only how loud the sound is.

What Video Games Can You Play with Hyperacusis or Reactive Tinnitus?

Actually, almost any game for handheld is designed in a way that makes you able to play muted. Not all the people use headphones, and these games can be played in a bus, train, etc. so devs do what they can to make playing muted not-an-issue.

Best Approach to Improve Reactive Tinnitus?

When my hyperacusis improved - reactive nature of tinnitus improved too. Spikes were shorter (i.e. after driving car - a few minutes spike in comparison to a few hours spike before hyperacusis improvement). So yeah, I think reactiveness of tinnitus is a symptom of sound sensitivity in some way.

Tinnitus Down to 1/10 — Eating 8 Bananas a Day

Hm, when I ate a lot of bananas (2 a day, almost everyday) my tinnitus was quieter too... Maybe it's a coincidence, but I would try eating more of these again. Be careful guys if you have diabetes, bananas have a lot of fructose! 8 bananas a day is about 100 g of sugar (teaspoon is 5 g).

    Sound Pharmaceuticals (SPI-5557 & SPI-1005)

Nah. It's too much money. In SPI-1005 trial they used 400mg per day, for 28 days (maybe not correct information). If 25mg costs $240... I don't even need to count how much a full course of this stuff would cost.

Can Anyone Recommend a Good Pair of Ear Muffs for Hyperacusis?

The problem is ear muffs have to be really tight to work. Even your hair under earmuffs reduce their effectiveness. I have problem with them too. My jaw hurts after a while (TMJ) and my ears are in pain because of feeling pressure like being constantly under water (ETD).

Dealing with False Fire Alarms in College — Help?

I know in college things are a little different but I worked in office and asked building administration to send me an e-mail the day before every false fire alarm. It worked quite well. Maybe if are they planing these false alarms, not just "oh, in 10 minutes we turn this on and check if it's...

Ear Canal Burning — What's the Cause?

I know everyone is different but tensor tympani gives me a little tense and blockage feeling in my ear/jaw/neck AFTER thumping a lot (i.e. after louder conversation). I don't experience any burning, it's more like dull pain. Burning is more nerves related than muscles itself but (as you wrote)...

Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

In terms of medical device,s it isn't a high price at all. Simple in-ear white noise generators (not talking about hearing aids, but the ones used as part of TRT, Tinnitus Retraining Therapy) costs about $2,000 per ear and don't provide any tinnitus loudness reduction.
