Hi When I look back at my first posts it's interesting as a lot has changed. The pressure and pain have gone, the siren noise has gone. My tinnitus is quite stable. I have reasonably quiet mornings, however it does build during the day to where I have to mask, I also sleep now without issue...

I love this post. And when the device gets approval and they tinker with the protocol and do further exploratory studies, I believe they can improve the 65% significantly.

Agreed. But my post was in response to NHS approval and eventual part of its treatment plans.

For the device to become an "integrated care pathway," a part of NICE guidelines etc, yes, I believe a larger trial will be required. However (puts optimistic hat on), if it proves to be beneficial in the real world, funding can be requested if a case is made. (Source) I know this seems...

There is a supplemental list where all accepted maneuvers are listed, with their accompanied nerve. Inclusion criteria as stated: "Must be able to modulate their tinnitus with a somatic maneuver 19 (Simmons et al., 2008)" so based off this only one is needed. I can cause a massive spike with a...

I was tentative in writing this as I don’t want to give false hope. However, through “individual funding requests for specialised services” in the NHS, a clinician can request funding for a proven treatment. If a solid case is raised and the price of the device is, let’s say cheaper than...

Agreed. The problem with a graph like this is there’s just too much data! But they are used to show the relationship (good or bad, or nothing notable).

Scatter graphs are an ugly way to look at data. But what they are showing are two variables and the relationship between the two. They are looking at a cause and effect relationship, how one influences the other, or how they are both influenced etc. They can show three things: Positive...

Also based on standard deviation, at least 10% of the participants would have a greater than 75% reduction... I like optimism.

They would use a standard deviation. For the standard normal distribution, 68% of the results lie within 1 standard deviation of the mean; 95% lie within two standard deviations of the mean; and 99.9% lie within 3 standard deviations of the mean. This would have been spread over a bell curve...

Thank you so much. Yes, I believe this will show others (and the fact they are looking at at the mapping of tinnitus now, reminds me of the early days of Parkinson’s and treatment for that has come on leaps and bounds) where to aim. And yes, just knowing that something is out there helps a lot.

I was thinking the hoops they would have to go through to get this commonplace in the NHS. First off, the BTA would have to support this/multiple studies, then NICE would have to include it in their recommendations, then like you said, the training of staff. I agree with you; there needs to be...

What I still can’t get my head round (In a good way) is that the treatment stopped at six weeks and participants continued to get better! I would love to see the data from six months. There’s lots of details needed, like could you work on two tones at once (separate use), but I think this is...

The reality is that I have patients who can’t get hold of drugs that could potentially lengthen their lives! I’ve got patients who are deemed too healthy for lung transplants ("come back when you're nearly dead.") That being said, I am a believer in Dr. Shore’s device. A video was posted...

Study design, participants and many studies. The NHS would only fund this if it proves very viable and affordable, plus it would need more studies for them to be able to fully grade it. (We’ve got 15 years of evidence for one of our services and our funding is still poor at best.) I cannot see...
