Rereading my old posts from years ago made me shed a tear. After losing my hearing aids a lot of old fears and memories came back. I almost forgot how hopeless and dark it used to be. I don't think people understand how traumatic going through something like this can be. Wishing everyone else on...

How This All Works for Me — My Current Status and How I've Regained a Full and Rich Life Despite Tinnitus

I’ve come across many of your posts and comments, especially during the height of my struggle with this affliction. I remember you always being incredibly kind and helpful! I haven’t been on here much, partly for the same reasons you mentioned, and I’ve often wondered how you were doing. It...

My Dream Is to Get a Motorcycle License — Can Driving a Motorcycle Make Tinnitus Worse?

Hi everyone, I’d really like to ask someone with some motorcycle-experience some (possibly dumb) questions about motorcycles / tinnitus (or hearing loss in general). It’s been my dream for years to get my license, and I’ve been saving up since I was about 15 years old. Unfortunately at 19 I...

Confession: I've Started Calling My Tinnitus "A Migraine'

I simply don't want to have to casually explain the worst thing that’s ever happened to me. (And then be met with confusion or distrust.) My tinnitus gets structurally worse and it's a fucking punch in the throat every time. When it gets really bad I take a day off. I can't handle it 24/7, I...

Did I convince myself getting a cat would get me out of depression? .. maybe. Did it? No. Is it still the best thing I ever did? 100% yes.

The Relief of Hearing Aids — Even with 0 Hearing Loss

I agree! I can still hear my tinnitus above the 'masking' quite easily, though. I suppose maybe masking isn't the right word for it. For me it's a distraction from the tinnitus, not a complete masking of it.

The Relief of Hearing Aids — Even with 0 Hearing Loss

In that case I believe hearing aids might suit you even better! Although I have little to no hearing loss, the option to raise the volume of certain sounds in my surroundings has helped me greatly. It's a more natural sounding type of masking! In your case the hearing aids 'filling in the...

The Relief of Hearing Aids — Even with 0 Hearing Loss

(Disclaimer: I still have tinnitus, this is not a succes in terms of a literal cure) I'm hesitant to post this in success stories, as I know it's not always appreciated when the success does not entail a physical improvement or the disappearance of the tinnitus itself. But for me not being...
