Hi all, I've had tinnitus and hyperacusis for many years. The hyperacusis is from MS, that's been over 15 years. The tinnitus has been about 3-4 years now. What have you tried that has helped quieten it? I can find all sorts of ideas but would love to have responses on one thread if possible...

I do have amoxicillin and was thinking I could switch to that. It was a walk-in clinic doctor, and not a good one, unfortunately. It seems like the penicillin based drugs don't cause or harm tinnitus, or am I incorrect on that? Thanks Lauri

I feel like an idiot for not even thinking about the type of antibiotic when it was prescribed. I have a swollen uvula (look that one up lol) and they put me on Clarithromycin. I have taken 3 doses and my tinnitus has spiked like crazy. Kept me up all night and I still didn't link it until after...

Hi Michael, My one issue is that my T seems to not be able to be masked (I haven't tried standing in front of a jet engine yet but....). So it's hard to set white noise just below the T because the T seems to turn up with it. I always use white noise, fans, etc. and have since my Hyperacusis...

I actually am really good at protecting my ears because of the many years of hyperacusis. I even wear an earplug in the car when I feel like turning up the song volume, not because it is too loud but I don't want to set off the T. Apparently the T doesn't respect all the damn steps I take ;-)

I'm taking chelated magnesium, however it is magnesium glycinate. It seems from the reading I've done that would be a good choice. Hopefully it will!
