Study Points to Possible New Therapy for Hearing Loss — University of Rochester

Could you give me examples of NIH funded research that has lead to market leading medical devices? Dude.

I wish it were that easy and the case. The US brings the majority of innovation to the medical marketplace because they are not gov't run healthcare. As long as private market monetary rewards are the end game, that will continue to drive innovation. Where do you propose doing this unfettered...

Hang in there friend. Maybe not tomorrow, maybe not next year, but there are people and resources working on this hard. All it takes is that one moment, that one breakthrough that comes unexpectedly...and things can change quickly. It is hope that has always moved man forward, regardless of...

You might want to tell that to these guys, and several other labs/companies that are already doing so in animal models and don't forget to call Columbia university and tell them to stop their human trials too...

You bet. Glad I could add a little something to the discussion. Now, how do we get this to move along? I've got some contacts in the medical device world, not in neurology or hearing. However, some of these companies are multi-disciplinary and maybe if they see another viable patient population...

That's unfortunate for certain. I' can't imagine though that companies looking at this don't see the $$$ at the end of their efforts. Maybe their industry is different, but when there was a viable therapy for a patient population that CMS and private insurance reimbursed generously, companies...

New University of Michigan Tinnitus Discovery — Signal Timing

From the late 1980's to the current day, I watched advances in medical devices in the cardiac space that even the best biomedical engineer could have only dreamed of back then. It can happen in this area of neurology too. From my perspective, the biggest obstacle in curing tinnitus is the lack...

In the 1970's, it took a warehouse full of equipment to run a computer at 1/100th the speed of even a cheap smart phone in your pocket right now. It has not even been 100 years since the discovery of antibiotics 200 years ago they were still using blood-letting as a treatment for just about...

I Became Better with Notched Sound Therapy and ACRN, After Two Years of Tinnitus

Thanks for the link. That's good to know that you can just download some tracks versus subscribing to a service. I saw that he has tracks with some really high frequencies. I can't hear anything above around 8900 Hz. How does someone who has a T above that match it? I mean, you can't hear it...

Did you ever sign up for their service? I contacted them about the process to take your music files and notch them. Seemed clear as mud to me, but another user assured me it was not that hard. I think I'll give it a go.

I think regardless of the music therapy system, most say to deliver therapy for at least 6-8 months to determine the full effect. I think it is important to keep this in mind. It's analogous to taking a medicine that may need a loading dose to build up in the system before you can determine if...

Acoustic CR® Neuromodulation: Do It Yourself Guide

Not sure. It seems like all the manufacturers of music therapy, be it Neuromonics, Notched Music, CR Neuromodulation, etc. do their evaluations with high fidelity headphones as the delivery method. I don't think it could hurt to just use speakers, but not sure how that will affect efficacy.

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) for Tinnitus — Long-Lasting Everyday Home-Practiced Experiences

@Lane, thanks for much for your thoughts. Yes, I guess that does make sense. I'm still debating whether or not to move forward with trying LLLT. Very heated debate about whether it has an validity or not. I would say give it a try because there is nothing to lose. It either does something or...
