    Reactive Tinnitus Is Real

I haven't read through all the posts, but I believe I have T also I get "reactive T" when I am exposed to loud or constant sound. For example, I spent all of Sunday at Disneyland and when I got home I had a constant "tape hiss" type sound. It's subsiding now, but if I go to any sort of place...

    The Positivity Thread

Greetings everyone! Just dropped in to give a quick update. I've had T for about a year and 4 months now. During the daytime I rarely notice it although it's there. I've learned to listen over/beyond the T, if that makes sense. This past week I attended my son's first private French horn lesson...

    The Positivity Thread

Hi all! It's been so long since I last visited. Everything is going well. My ears still ring, especially my left. I noticed there's a direct correlation between stress/fatigue and an obnoxious clicking in my ears. My life continues on as normal even with T. Wishing everyone the best this...

    The Positivity Thread

Hi all! I haven't been here in so long I can't even remember! I just wanted to say hello and that I wish everyone well. As for my T, it's still here, but I only am conscience of it when I'm trying to fall asleep. I can hear it at all times of day if I listen for it, but I don listen for it...

    Stress and Tinnitus

I don't know if there's any evidence of T being exaserbated by stress, but I can personally attest to this being the case for myself. I hadn't been cognizant of my T at all today until I received some bad news. Then my ears began buzzing like crazy.

    Noise Machines for Sleeping

I use a free iPad/iPhone app called Relax Melodies. It's highly customizable. Place my iPad/iPhone near the head board and keep it a very low volume.

Has Anyone Noticed When They Swallow or Yawn That the Tinnitus Goes Away for a Few Seconds?

Yes, but I think all hearing is diminished when one yawns at least. When you chew the sound of your chewing my drown out T sounds.

Varying Tones Giving Way to a Monotone Hiss

Thank you @Stina and @shan. I appreciate your support. It seems my T is at an all time low now. This past weekend I was so nervous after being with all the noisy people, but I'm felling good now. I think the acoustics in that ball room weren't good.

Varying Tones Giving Way to a Monotone Hiss

Not just talking. 200 people I'm a small room talking over one another. It was LOUD.

Varying Tones Giving Way to a Monotone Hiss

Over the weekend I attended a dinner in a ballroom with about 200 other adults. There was no music playing, but the talking was quite loud. I didn't have my ear plugs in and I stayed in the room for about an hour and a half. After I left the room I noticed my ears hissed more than usual. I...

    Trying to Accept My Journey

Things will get better. I am certain of that. I had T over 15 years ago and it went away completely. And then resurfaced at the end of October/early November. It's still with me, but now I hardly notice it during waking hours. I'm still using low-volume ambient sounds to fall asleep...

Sudafed Makes My Tinnitus Go Away?

Afrin and Sudafed has helped diminish my T too. If your T is caused by a sinus/ear infection it's very likely these meds would offer relief.

I've Been Away for a Few Weeks. Things Have Been Good.

@Grace, It was so long ago that I don't exactly remember the length of time, but somewhere between 3 and 6 months.

I've Been Away for a Few Weeks. Things Have Been Good.

@LadyDi, Yes, I'd say I was never distressed by T this time around. Strangely, I was mostly curios about it and the course it may follow. I will say that I was depressed for a few days surrounding initial sleepless nights. I had one night early on where I awakened six times. Since then...
