Feedback on Dr. Elena Maresca for Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Treatment

Does anyone here have experience with Dr. Elena Maresca from Stony Brook, NY? She seems very confident in her ability to help with tinnitus and hyperacusis, but I’d appreciate feedback from other patients. Thanks!

Had 4 months of very mild H, to the point I had forgotten how much it takes out of you. Now I'm back to... everything hurts. Anyone have any strategies for success, aside from hearing aids? They make my ears worse.

I’m typically a positive person, but this thing has beaten me. It really can destroy your life.

Loud Distressing Tinnitus After Open Air Concert: Is This a Spike or My New Normal?

I’ve had many spikes over the years. Dealing with one now. All I can say is, try to stay calm. I’ve had spikes last a couple days to months on end... but I’ve always gotten back to my normal baseline. Protect your ears. Exercise. Eat healthy. Speak to someone - it helps.

REVIEW: Round and Oval Window Reinforcement Surgery for Hyperacusis — The Silverstein Institute

My hyperacusis has been beating me up pretty good the last couple of years. I’m wondering if there are any more stories/opinions from people who’ve had the surgery. I’m getting desperate for some relief but want to know this surgery won’t be waste of time... or make things worse. I have an...

I have the molded plugs and earasers. The molded ones are good for lots of playing- hard to talk with though. The earasers are easier to teach with. I forget they are in sometimes.

Funny you ask- as of this week, I'm no longer conducting band rehearsals. It's just too loud and def the cause of my T and H spike. I'm now teaching small group lessons for most of my day. More manageable. Always with ear plugs. Hoping things calm down in the next few months. The T and H...

    Share Your Passions!

This is a fun thread, and I love that it’s so positive. Music has been most of my day for a long time. I love to compose, improvise, create and explore sounds/timbres (not so much lately)... but I’m hoping it’s a temporary hiatus. I’ll listen to most genres; it changes based on my mood I...
