    Tinnitus Due to Ear Wax

I get the problem of getting woken up by it too. There's not a huge amount you can do other than to follow all the basic sleep hygiene rules such as no alcohol, caffeine or napping in the day and do exercise to make yourself feel tired at night.

    Searching for the Cause

I noticed I was having a problem with fairly mild tinnitus in mid December 2016. When I dated it back to when the tinnitus started, I figured it was from when I attended a v v loud concert where my Left ear (the one with the tinnitus) was angled 40cm (ish) from the loudspeaker and 40cm (ish)...

    Is This Reactive Tinnitus?

I get this. i notice it coming on with certain sounds, e.g. I hear the kids thumping on the floor, padding about the house. It causes a low hum to reverberate in my ear for only 20 secs, unless I swallow which stops it. Jason c I share your loss of music too. I can't hear the backing sounds...

    Sad Today

I don't blame you for feeling sad. Was your hearing loss caused by sitting next to the brass section? My hearing problems all started with listening to a brass band. I've decided I'm not going to play my flute or violin again, as I'm fearful of making the tinnitus and hyperacusis worse. I wasn't...

Hey! 19-Year-Old Who Desperately Needs Some Advice Here

It probably wouldn't cost much to find a local audiologist who would clear out your ears privately. I felt that microsuction would be safer than syringing but technically both can cause tinnitus, although this is uncommon. I used olive oil drops. Some of the ear drops can also cause tinnitus. I...

    Give Me Some Hope

Thanks Michael for the positivity- it is encouraging to learn that your h has completely resolved which gives hope for us. And on a positive note I had tinnitus in 2007 and was completely cured of it after a few months.

    Give Me Some Hope

Michael- I would be interested to read any research articles you can suggest that show that trt can cure hyperacusis. That is so great that you got over the h. Thankfully my h is not disabling, it's just a mild annoyance. I've read of folk having to use paper cups and that really must reduce...

    Give Me Some Hope

Michael- Thanks very much for the links and for sharing your story, that is certainly sad to hear that you were medically retired. I can most definitely see why people are unable to work with this condition, as unbelievable as it might seem. I'm a psychologist and had my tinnitus remained severe...

    Give Me Some Hope

The most hutful comment, among many, has been 'there are worse things to have'. That's fine to say that, and probably true, but for me it is a massive adjustment to learn that possibly for the rest of my life I will be reading books to the sound equivalent of someone turning steel on a lathe, I...

The Connection Between Anaemia and Tinnitus?

I developed a case of tinnitus in my left ear after attending a brass band (25.11.16) and sat less than a metre from the speaker. Biggest mistake of my life. The tinnitus at that point was not disabling, a low hum I could only hear for a few seconds around 10 times a day. Around 5 weeks later I...

Complete List of Causes of Tinnitus

If you read the stories on here you'd believe the cotton swabs can def cause t. Only when jamming in too far. I also think it is possible that overuse of ear plugs could cause tinnitus though I'm unsure of the mechanism behind that- pressure changes in the ears possibly.

New to This — Tinnitus Sucks!

Did you take any medication lately, e.g. Benzos or antibitiotics? I've had two bouts of tinnitus from medications. I find it unlikely that 2-3 mins of noise can cause that.it could be the earplugs being pushed in too far?

    Do I Have Lyme's Disease?

Zithromax and amoxicillin I think it was. I also managed to get iv antibiotics here on the NHS for a month. The Swiss doctor was amazing. The amount she knew about Lyme was staggering. She even diagnosed this really rare skin condition on my shins called atrophic atrophans or something like...

    Eeeeeeeee the Sound of Silence

I also find good ingvto bed much later rather than earlier helps. I've given up alcohol since the start of...
