My professional life was policing in Toronto, but my main hobby was always recording musicians. In my home studio, I can control the volume, but starting in 1979, I did a lot of 'live' band taping in bars and at concerts.
God, they were so LOUD! Even keeping headphones on did not protect my hearing and as I aged, I lost some in my left ear but nothing too bad.
I have lived with the cicadas in my left ear for many years now. However, recently, at bedtime, I have been hearing 'wind at the beach' sound. Gone in the a.m.
I am signing up here because a third issue has started. I hear the phantom sound of a small electric motor turn on for about 3-8 seconds, stop and repeat until I fall asleep. It cannot be recorded and believe me that I have sensitive microphones!
