A Strange Situation Regarding an Unpleasant External (Outdoors) Noise

Hello guys! So a couple of days ago I was sitting in my room with an open window when I suddenly heard this weird sound coming from the outside. The sound was very similar to a child's cry, you know the typical "uääää, uäää", but it sounded as if it came from some kind of a bird. And it had a...

Exposed to Fire Alarm — Hearing a Lingering Siren Sound Hours Later?

Could be some type of earworm. When you're exposed to a certain sound for a shorter or longer period, your brain can actually start playing that sound inside your head. I've had this several times where I would hear a certain sound and my brain just got fixated on the sound, and when I moved...

Be Honest. Do You Still Enjoy Life?

Have you tried audio books? I know it's not the same thing as reading, but still a decent substitute.

Be Honest. Do You Still Enjoy Life?

This thread will obviously have lots of different answers depending on how severe your tinnitus is, if you get any treament/medication that helps or not etc. For me, thankfully yes, I enjoy life just as much as I did before my tinnitus.

My Eardrum Reacts (I Hear/Feel a Contraction/Twitch) to Sudden Noises

For me it wasn't only noise. It was some movements too. Like when I was drinking something out of a can, like a Coca Cola, the movement made my ear twitch/vibrate too. But when I was drinking out of a glass, this didn't happen. Very strange.

My Eardrum Reacts (I Hear/Feel a Contraction/Twitch) to Sudden Noises

I've had this too! This started for me even before the onset of my tinnitus. Certain sounds/frequencies would make my right ear twitch/vibrate. It disappeared by itself though and I haven't had this for quite a while now.

Spontaneous Onset of New Tinnitus Sound (Think: Laptop Fan)

Some lasted for 3-5 days, some lasted for 2-3 weeks. I don't think a spike has ever lasted for more than 3 weeks.

Spontaneous Onset of New Tinnitus Sound (Think: Laptop Fan)

Since the onset of my tinnitus I've actually experienced this lots of times. Good news for me (knock on wood) was that it always disappeared. I think the main reason that I could hear new sounds etc was anxiety and stress. Don't freak out or assume the worst. It can go away and I'm pretty sure...

Tinnitus Wins. There Is Nothing I Can Do About It. This Is My Testimony of Surrender.

You are still just one year in. One year might sound like a long time, but when it comes to tinnitus, it's a short period. Give it another year and you will notice how life slowly gets back to normal and eventually you will stop giving a fuck about tinnitus.

Tinnitus Is Better in Silent Rooms

Same with me. Even if my tinnitus wasn't reactive, I had better results lying in the quiet hearing my tinnitus than having cricket sounds or any other background sound on. And as I said, when I hear my tinnitus at night, it doesn't irritate me or piss me off the slightest. Even those nights...

Tinnitus Is Better in Silent Rooms

I've been in that situation too. Normally, you would think that silent rooms are bad for tinnitus since that's all you will be left with - tinnitus. But I remember that I could relax much more in a quiet room. TV, fans or other sounds would make it worse and more annoying. With time that went...

My Tinnitus Improves After Lifting a Dumbbell, and Antihistamines Made It Temporarily Disappear

Me and my friend once had a running contest on who runs the fastest. After I ran I was completely exhausted and had that blood taste in my mouth and my heart was pumping like a maniac. Then I noticed how my tinnitus had completely disappeared for 10-20 minutes because of the running. So I've...

Has Anyone Recovered from Non-Severe Tinnitus?

My tinnitus was/is non-severe and I'm 100% habituated. Some days it's not even there, and the days my tinnitus is there, it doesn't bother me the slightest bit to be honest.

Scary Spikes in the Middle of the Night — Can You Dream Your Tinnitus Is Worse?

I've dreamt that my tinnitus has been extremely loud, so loud I actually woke up from the dream lol. And no, it wasn't loud or anything when I woke up, it was all in the dream.
