Unfortunately we keep reading that hearing loss could contribute to cognitive decline. I was just looking at the mechanism of age related hearing loss in this publication. From what I can understand, age related hearing loss is not just hair cell loss. It is much more complicated.

That is my experience too. I am using noise cancelling headphones in a van. I then turn up the radio and the higher frequencies are getting through better than lower frequencies. The lower frequencies of road and engine noise are down to a luxurious level.

I could be mistaken, but I believe not only US scientists are part of the HHF. But yes HHF is US based. I hope that soon it will be even more global with researchers sharing information. That can't be bad.
