Prednisone was the only thing that seemed to relieve my tinnitus. But I couldn't stay on it and I really didn't want to either! I tried TRT and it helped, but my doctor in Vancouver also told me (in a manner of words) to save my money. He's a great, older doctor and doesn't beat around the bush...
