Denver Man Gets Gene Therapy to Restore Hearing

This is awesome news. If he is hearing any new sounds, then A. hairs cells are growing and B. There are nerves getting the signal to the brain. But it does show the brain will have to learn how to adjust to the new signal input over time. But the brain is plastic and can do that. And this was...

    N-Acetylcysteine (NAC)

I've been taking 600 mg per day for the past year now. I can't say it did anything for my T but it may be preventing further damage to what I have left of my hair cells. Any protection at this stage in my damage is helpful. I am basing this on the US Navy study with Marine cohorts at a firing...

I know..those pics were just a gag..for laugh...not to be taken seriously. The serious part was the threads following those photos.

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) for Tinnitus — Experiences (Dr. Wilden, etc.)

Just an update. I don't have *ANY* spikes now with the laser. Also, my T is very low. Probably a 3/10. It has been this way for a few weeks. I can't prove the laser did this but it is no longer loud T. I use the laser 5 times a week for 30 min. That is just my report...take it or leave it but I...

Inner Ear Hair Cell Regeneration — Maybe We Can Know More

This one is a long...long way off. They don't even know how the retinoblastoma gene leads to regeneration. Seems like something for 50 years from now. I"ll be dead so great for my grand kids.

    Remeron Started My Tinnitus

7.5 mg is all you need for sleep. But keep vigilant because you get tolerance really fast on this poison. Even some folks found getting off 7.5 challenging but they maybe were on it for awhile.

    Remeron Started My Tinnitus

Yes, you were on benzos longer than I was. But do not discount Remeron. I used it for years. I eventually got to 45 mg. Remeron caused me MORE anxiety and to add to it OCD (and about 20 lbs weight gain and high blood pressure). But WD was only sleep deprivation and a bad rash that continues...

    Remeron Started My Tinnitus

Unfortunately, yes. I had to come off of Xanax once. Piece of cake. I did a taper but jumped off in a week's time. Mirtazapine is a whole different story. I did a 10% taper. I had an average of 2 to maybe 4 hours of sleep while tapering off. It took me two months before I got my natural sleep...

    Remeron Started My Tinnitus

Yes, the withdrawal is hell. You will get insomnia, anxiety, and...since it is a weak antihistamine on some receptors (H1 receptors), you will get what is called histamine intolerance. That is not a drug to play with lightly. It is a SNRI type drug. It is one of the hardest to get off of. You...

    Tinnitus and Masturbation

Who would have thought you could put those two words in the same sentence. Wow! Well, like they say...if you don't use it...you lose it. I wouldn't worry about T.

    Remeron Started My Tinnitus

Remeron..AKA mirtazapine did not make my T worse. I took it a long time. Now, I did have hell getting off of it. It was as bad as any benzodiazapine. I would recommend never taking Remeron again but I don't think it would make T worse. Many people on this board take Remeron for sleep (a bad...

    N-Acetylcysteine (NAC)

I've been taking NAC @ 600mg after 1 month of onset and it definitely helped my H but for T not so much...if at all. But my H was so bad I was going deaf. I really think it saved me. I didn't start to recover until I started NAC and within just a few days I noticed improvement. I take Life...

Regeneration of the Cochlea: Notch Inhibition + LLLT — A Theoretical Approach

830nm may be too long. Check some of the more expensive lasers and see what they are using. Like the famous Walden laser. Seems too low freq. As I understand it, there are ranges of wavelengths for zones of hearing freq.
