Share Your Coronavirus (COVID-19) Vaccine Experience: Any Impact on Your Tinnitus or Hyperacusis?

Got my second Pfizer shot over a week ago. Only side effects were muscle pain and a bit of a fever for a short day. Kept me from work, but nothing else special. My tinnitus was actually even slightly lower than usual, but I attribute this to the default fluctuations in its baseline.

I Now Have Tinnitus After Receiving the Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine

Just happened to stumble upon this thread. I notice most people talking about what the vaccine could be doing to the ears to cause tinnitus, so I think it's important to emphasize that tinnitus isn't just a hearing symptom. Stress and heavy muscle strain (e.g. on the neck in my case) can...

Share Your Coronavirus (COVID-19) Vaccine Experience: Any Impact on Your Tinnitus or Hyperacusis?

I got my first shot of Pfizer on May 17th. No changes to my tinnitus, still sleeping quite well despite the sounds. Second shot will be on June 21th.

7 Months Later Tinnitus Is Still with Me: Did My ENT Lie About Synapse Damage Being Able to Heal?

I'm one of the cases where hearing loss is not a factor, at least as far as you can check for that. I believe I read somewhere last year that the general perception is that 70% of the tinnitus cases has hearing loss as a cause. No clue anymore what article said that though, so don't quote me on...

7 Months Later Tinnitus Is Still with Me: Did My ENT Lie About Synapse Damage Being Able to Heal?

One can never be certain. However, as T stopped increasing and started declining shortly after beginning with physio exercises, I do believe there is a cause and effect relationship there.

Tinnitus — My Journey Back to a Normal Life

@ajc Apologies, apparently something went wrong with my reply above. What I wanted to say was the following: IMHO, it would have been selfish to leave without saying or giving anything. This way (by donating, writing the story and answering questions), I can support those who are struggling...

Tinnitus — My Journey Back to a Normal Life

IMHO, it would have been selfish to leave without saying or giving anything. Th I only used the lowest settings (0.5, I guess?). Mostly because I did not "trust" the device yet, but it was all that I needed in the end. I'd say, use it at 0.5 for at least another week, and see if anything...

Tinnitus — My Journey Back to a Normal Life

Well, I guess it is time for my post. Even though it's just a summary, you better be in for a long read... Disclaimer My tinnitus is nót hearing-related. Still, it might be interesting for some people who have this diagnosis, as I did incorrectly get the "hearing loss" conclusion from one ENT...

Tinnitus and Hyperacusis/Ear Sensitivity After Microsuction and MRI

I checked, and you're right: it's the Pianissimo. Link is in dutch, but the main facts should be clear with Google translate: https://www.openmrizen.com/nl/ons-centrum/mri-onderzoek/

    Threw Away My AirPods Today

Keep up the physio for at least a few months, and make sure to do daily exercises at home as well. On a 10-scale, my tinnitus went down from 9 to about 3 (on average) within two months while I was doing this. If there is a somatic element involved, investigating this is always worthwhile. Just...

    Threw Away My AirPods Today

Note: reactivity is not always related to sound-induced tinnitus. Mine has a different origin (neck), yet I've experienced reactivity for about six months after onset, until it lowered and finally disappeared. That said, you did well by getting rid of the Airpods. It is useless to risk...

Multiple Tinnitus Sounds — Are There Others Like Me?

Just happened to come across this topic again... @PeteJ @hans01 perhaps you already read about my progress in other threads, but physiotherapy and neck exercises eventually reduced my tinnitus to the point that I can have silence again. Not constantly yet, I have a few sounds left that are...

Poll: Do You Mask Your Tinnitus When You Sleep?

Hard to say, as it really depends on your individual case of T. My best advice would be to try out a multitude of coping mechanisms, and stick to the ones that work. I stopped masking when I found out that the sounds were actually exacerbating my T. If I was in a (fairly) silent environment...

Tinnitus and Hyperacusis/Ear Sensitivity After Microsuction and MRI

If you need another MRI at some point, try the "silent" type. This already maxes out at 70-75db without ear protection (and of course at 40-45 db with normal ear protection), so it's hardly a risk anymore. Had two of those so far, gave no issues at all.
