My Tinnitus Is Almost Gone After 3 Years: It's Now a Faint Ringing — No Longer Hyperacusis Either

None. Because they don’t exist. If you allow your doctor to convince you to take benzos to help sleep, find a new doctor. The only thing that works is to exercise like hell and eat well. No more junk food. Eventually your body will naturally heal itself the best it can. Exercise will...

My Tinnitus Is Almost Gone After 3 Years: It's Now a Faint Ringing — No Longer Hyperacusis Either

Sorry for the delayed response. Year 4 has been a wonderful year. Every month seems to bring even more improvements. It’s a miracle I’ve come this far without completely losing my grip on reality. It’s now at the phase where it’s mostly forgettable. The ringing continues to diminish each month...

My Tinnitus Is Almost Gone After 3 Years: It's Now a Faint Ringing — No Longer Hyperacusis Either

It did make it worse in the first year. But that would subside within hours of having no exposure to any sounds. My first year was the worst. The second year was just frustrating. The third year was demoralizing. The fourth year was hope. I’m almost down to a very faint ringing. I rarely wear...

My Tinnitus Is Almost Gone After 3 Years: It's Now a Faint Ringing — No Longer Hyperacusis Either

How many months has it been since your onset? My first 18 months were uniform and constant. In some respects it got progressively worse as I struggled to accept the new normal. It was the most painful event of my life hands down. The turning point was around month 20 where I occasionally...

My Tinnitus Is Almost Gone After 3 Years: It's Now a Faint Ringing — No Longer Hyperacusis Either

Hi AliasM. My audiogram was near perfect. With a small loss around 6-7 kHz in one ear. My audiologist said I had near perfect hearing for a 40-year-old. Which was soul crushing considering how much pain I was in. The damage is outside the range of an audiogram which only measures from 100 Hz to...

My Tinnitus Is Almost Gone After 3 Years: It's Now a Faint Ringing — No Longer Hyperacusis Either

I did work during that time frame and my job was very dependent on phone calls (sales). I would bear through it but I would be exhausted by the end of the day. Probably wasn’t the best for my recovery but had to work at that time so no choice. The hyperacusis was the worst part of the whole...

My Tinnitus Is Almost Gone After 3 Years: It's Now a Faint Ringing — No Longer Hyperacusis Either

I do eat a lot of fish, so perhaps that was helpful in my recovery.

My Tinnitus Is Almost Gone After 3 Years: It's Now a Faint Ringing — No Longer Hyperacusis Either

It does seem like we had a very similar experience. Dishes were the absolute worst as they generate sounds around the 11-15 kHz range, which is where most of the damage resides in the cochlea. It felt like someone was shoving an ice pick into my brain repeatedly with a residual fractal overtone...

My Tinnitus Is Almost Gone After 3 Years: It's Now a Faint Ringing — No Longer Hyperacusis Either

Thanks for sharing. Yes my hyperacusis was highly reactive to sounds. My tinnitus would spike at the slightest of sounds. It was awful. It made me paranoid to be around any environment with the potential for spontaneous noises.

I don’t know what that means. Can you explain?

My Tinnitus Is Almost Gone After 3 Years: It's Now a Faint Ringing — No Longer Hyperacusis Either

My hyperacusis was so bad I had to wear my earplugs to talk with anyone in my house even after asking them to lower their voice. Any normal volume sound was extreme torture. I stopped listening to most music because it was too painful. I had it worse than the average person. I would guess I had...

My Tinnitus Is Almost Gone After 3 Years: It's Now a Faint Ringing — No Longer Hyperacusis Either

Hang in there. I was in denial at year 2, I couldn’t believe that it could last so long. I was ready to give up on life in general. I stopped traveling and socializing and gave up many outdoor hobbies. I kept believing that my brain would adapt if I stayed healthy and exercised and ate well...

My Tinnitus Is Almost Gone After 3 Years: It's Now a Faint Ringing — No Longer Hyperacusis Either

My hyperacusis took about 18 months before it began to subside. I was extremely grateful for that alone. The reduction in tinnitus at month 30 was the icing on the cake. Hang in there and stay healthy. You will see improvements every 6-8 months.

My Tinnitus Is Almost Gone After 3 Years: It's Now a Faint Ringing — No Longer Hyperacusis Either

Thankfully no. The hyperacusis was awful for the first 2 years. I spent time with my niece and nephew and it was awful. Today I would not have any issue with a screaming baby or children. the only challenge I currently would have would be a loud bar or concert, and thankfully all those are not...

My Tinnitus Is Almost Gone After 3 Years: It's Now a Faint Ringing — No Longer Hyperacusis Either

Interesting. Where did you get this perspective/data from? I had assumed waiting for years was not uncommon. I still hear it faintly out doors if I’m not taking to someone. And of course I hear it perfectly at night but it’s no longer debilitatingly loud.
