I am 25 years old and live in New York State working as a customer support IT technician. On 8/11/14 I went out shooting (which I never have done before) with one of my friends and took three shots with his .20 caliber shotgun. The first two shots were ok, but after the third shot it made my left ear blowout and have had ringing in both ears ever since. I had foam earplugs in, however they possibly were not good enough or they were not properly inserted into my ear. After a week, I had a PA look at it but she sid not consider doing anything urgent. After another several weeks, I told my doctor about it and he referred me to an audiologist who gave me three sessions of intratampanic steroid injections (ITP) in my left ear, beginning on week eight after the firing range. I believe that the ITP's were effective in a limiting some of the sensitivity and hyperacustics, but the tinnitus has remained the same.
