I know. I lost 20db of hearing in 2 minutes so its not a surprise that it worsened. My T used to be a 2/10 now its a solid 8/10. It has been since January and I saw 0 improvement. 8 months in and stil dealing with severe t and h
it dosent strangely enough. TV or sound machine do not cause pain, but when i talk, dishes clank, or other people talk then it does. I cant explain even when i had hyperacusis last October i was able to watch tv and listen to music, however as soon as people started to talk it would cause pain.
I am the same. I can turn up the tv quite loud (just tested it, and turned it down again) without it causing pain. I can stand most sounds at 65 db but if the sound is sharp and high pitched is causes me discomfort at lower db then 65. dishes clanking, handling silverware and sudden high laughter is the worst!
I feel I am every single day and it's a thought I can't get rid of, but I hold on to my hope of future treatment. I have nothing and am nothing without my hope. When it dies....I die.
Same thing with me. I guess those treatments are the only things keeping me going. Why the hell aren't we educating people on this? We educate people on STDs and how to eat healthy, why cant we educate them on Tinnitus and Hyperacusis. I never heard of T and H up until i got it.
I had heard of T before getting it and I have not met a person who did not know what it was. But people don't care before they get it themselves.....they think "it won't happen to me"....but sometimes it does.
I never knew about it before, if i did i would have not listened to my ipod and went to a concert. My audiologist wouldnt believe me when i told him i had an acoustic trauma until i got the 20db hearing loss on 4khz in February, then he was like ohhhhhh i guess you were right. Damn it.
Knowing about tinnitus did not keep me from listening to loud music through headphones. like everybody else I thought "it won't happen to me" but it did But for most people they never get T or only at very old age. I know of many people older then me who party all the time and go to concerts very often, and they don't have T or H.
