  • Negative thinking and worrying over tinnitus, will often make a person feel worse. Try to accentuate the positive things in your life....
    HI Michael

I've placed an order for one of those TIEX machines. I appreciate it might not work for everyone but right now anything is worth a try. Thanks for the tip and hopefully Neromod will be with us sooner rather than later.

Michael Leigh, Hello and hope today is a good day for you. Am just going to post the link to the ENT I am going to go to here, as I can't do it PM.
https://www.drshaari.com/ Is this the type of place you frown upon getting cleaning from? Would really like your thoughts.
Michael, thank you for getting back to me, really. I have been trying since you PM'd me to answere back. I don't see any reply button, or how to send a PM back to you.
Michael Leigh, Hello. Sorry to bother you. Hoping you are doing okay. Can you PM me, if it's not to much trouble. Wanted to get your thoughts on if the place I am going to is one that you speak about and would stay away from for cleaning or if it is okay to get a cleaning done here. I wanted to link to the place and that is why I didn't want to post it to an open thread.
    Michael Leigh
    HI Thelastleaf
You are not bothering me and I will sent you a PM

Constant Burning cooling pain that's a sign of hyperacusis? Sometimes stabbing... :(
After loud concert. It could take month's to improve but it should go away?. Pink noise machine? Or white noise? I was told to get an oasis sound machine.
    Thanks

Ok! I'm having trouble all over the board - I'll just start here.

How long into TRT was it before you started to really habituate to the ringing?
    Michael Leigh
As I said. Please "post" a new thread in the main forum and title it: Questions for Michael Leigh. You can also email the director of this forum and ask for your account to be looked at as there may be a problem with the way it's set up.

    Michael Leigh.
Hi ya, I saw on aprior post that a fan in the room should cover the noise of T during the night. Mine doesn't at all, and considering pillow speakers attached to phone App of nature sounds. Just worried over volume and at other insights please ? Ps your posts are helping me a newbie who is struggling big time
Hey I want to ask how long does it take to habituate? Thanks
Hey. How do I shorten prednisolone?
Over the past month, I have had 3 short courses.
    1st - 4 days for 25 mg.
    2nd - 40-40-30-20-10mg.

And after a week, I decided to take higher doses
    55mg-55-50-30- I'm here now ..
    Hi @micheal Leigh

I'm thinking of getting a sound machine to help with my hyperacusis. You say that the S5000 is the best model, where can I get one exactly? At this point, I can just about deal with the T, but the hyperacusis is really getting to me, so would this particular model be a good investment?
    Contrast
any white noise machine helps with hyperacusis. It's all about increasing the audiotory brains tolerance level over a course of time.
    Michael Leigh
Yes and no @Contrast Whilst a person can only buy what they can afford, it's also true we get what we pay for. Some sound machines are cheap and not very effective. It's best to go for an Oasis sound machine. The S-650 is much cheaper than the 5000 and just as effective but doesn't have luxury features.
    Michael Leigh
@h-m-1994 hyperacusis is complex. Whilst using a sound machine will certainly help, it would be best if I know more background about your tinnitus. Please send me a PM message or write a post in the forum. That way I can advise you on treatment in more detail.

    Michael
I recall you once said you are an audiophile.. May I ask you what kind of music you were and are into? Many thanks.
    Michael Leigh
    HI @victoria9273
I like classical, particularly baroque. Opera, especially Soprano and Mezzo Soprano voice. American Jazz and Jazz Fusion music: Bob James, Michael Franks, Diane Schuur, Fourplay, Joe Sample.
Classical composers: Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven. Baroque: Handel, JS Bach, Vivaldi, Telemann, Corelli
    victoria9273
I recognise Fourplay.. And also greatly into Jazz music. But I have heard somewhere that Jazz music deepens the feeling you already have and Classical music like you've mentioned elevates the mood to a positive state. So I thought that trying Classical music is one way to stay calm and positive.
    Michael Leigh
Classical music can be very soothing Victoria and I agree will help elevate positivity. I have two box set CDs I particularly like. Featuring works from some of the famous composers. Classic FM - "Relaxing" 4Cds
Classic FM - "Smooth classics" 4cd box set. Both available from Amazon.

    Hi Michael,
Would you mind if I sent you a message? (although not quite sure how to do this as new to the forum). Thanks.
    Michael Leigh
Yes you can sen me a message. Click on my Avatar and choose start conversation in the box. @Caro101
Hey Michael...Just wanted to say thanks for the Klonopin suggestion that you gave me in another thread, but I'm tapering off Valium, so it's not an option for me. I think that the Valium tapering is part of the issue I'm having. Thanks again!
I'm tapering remeron and also on 2 benzos, my T is screaming and I don't know what to do? Thanks
    Michael Leigh
Remeron is an antidepressant and should be reduced under the advice of your doctor. Benzos are powerful medications. You need to talk with your doctor and follow his or her advice. Sorry I am unable to help on this as you need professional medical advice.
    I wish you well

Hi Michael, its been 10 months now since I developed Tinnitus, after ear syringing by gp practice nurse (yes, olive oil used prior), do you know of anyone, whos tinnitus settled down after this length of time, or am I stuck with it. P.s GP now suggests an MRI scan. Do you think any point, given the circumstances in which T developed.? Many thanks, Kevin
    Michael Leigh
    Hi Kevin
Nothing is certain with tinnitus. Yours could settle down and you habituate and it no longer bothers you. I have known people that got tinnitus by syringing and they eventually habituated. Whether it completely went away I don't know. I think you should have an MRI . I advise you not to use headphones even at low volume. Read my article: Tinnitus, A Personal View, on my started theads.
    All the best
    Michael
Hello, I have a question about the sound machines you used.... I'm buying the Oasis s650 and there's not much information around the internet. so...
Earlier you mentioned that there are upgraded versions of s650. but is S650 still a fine product to use?
and is the white noise generated naturally within the machine?
    thank you.
    Michael Leigh
I don't know what part of the world you live? The Oasis S-650 is a fine machine and uses sound cards that have many different sounds.
    Michael Leigh
I have 3 Oasis sound machines including the S-650. The volume can be adjusted on all of them.
    Hope this helps.

I live in Korea. Thank you for the information.
Happy new year to you Michael. You don't get tired of trying to help the newcomers - many appreciate it. Can't believe it's been 4 years soon since you signed up. Feels like it wasn't that long ago.
    Michael Leigh
Happy New Year to you Markku. 21 years ago when I first got tinnitus I was going through a very difficult time. I got a lot of help and support from a tinnitus forum similar to TT. It is my aim to try and give something back and help others as I was once helped. I can't believe 4 years has elapsed either since joining TT and must say it's been quite an experience on many fronts.
    Michael Leigh
Sorry I still don't fully understand you. It doesn't really matter. Try and see the specialists that I have mentioned.
    Good luck.
    Michael

Haha okay. Last shot, so the sinewave sounds that i hear in reaction to sound, sound like they come from outside of my head, rather than in my ear or inside of my head. If you don't understand now, nevermind. But thanks for your advice
    Michael Leigh
No two people experience tinnitus the same. The sounds that you hear are coming from your "Brain" not your ear. Many people think the sounds come from their ear and this is not the case. It can feel as it the sound is coming from outside your head, but again this is not the case. If you are new to tinnitus this is a common mistake. Try not to worry. Read my articles on my "started threads" and see specialist.
Hi, I've been experiencing something similar to another member on here. Hi, I've been experiencing something similar to another member on here. At certain frequencies when I hear outside sound, instead of hearing the actual sound, I hear a modulated puretone/sinewave. I hear it as an external sound and not one that's in my head or in my ear
    J
I'm wondering what you did to get this to go away, because it has been bothering me for quite sometime and I'm losing hope.
    Michael Leigh
Please send me a PM or post again in the main forum as I don't fully understand what you're asking? Thanks
    Michael
    J
    How do I pm?
I've been doing quite well lately. I think the best I've been since I've gotten T and H. I started recollecting, and it occurred to me
that I never once asked you what caused your first and second acoustic trauma. What happened?
    Michael Leigh
Headphone use caused the first noise trauma. 2nd time, I believe listening to my HI-FI one evening and turned the volume up. Next day tinnitus got louder and continued to get worse.
