The theory has been mentioned that tinnitus sufferers (not just people with tinnitus, but sufferers) select for being a more emotional and artistic group, because such people are more likely to actively suffer from tinnitus...something to do with the brain.
And, this forum as opposed to other forums just kinda became the place where the more woke of tinnitus sufferers gather.
So yeah! Go us!
Thanks it's an uphill battle sometimes but I've actually converted some people. r/tinnitus could soon go full /MPP/ which would be fantastic because TT and r/tinnitus are the first places new sufferers go.
I joined reddit when I first got lupus so I could join the lupus sub. That place is depressing af, I bailed after 1 day. It's ok to vent and be sad but those women were next level negative.
Yep pretty much @Bill Bauer, it's a pretty bleak place. Although I did just have a look and it appears they now have a somewhat ok section for new sufferers, they also suggest tt so I guess that's a positive.
@Bill Bauer The moderation is awful and actually self destructive to new sufferers and the community is awful (although improving, there's good examples like DanishGIrl and Expertaw1).
Those FAQ are horrible! I could have written that before I knew anything about T. "Consult your doctor" is basically the answer to every question, even though I would say that most people who follow this advice will live to regret it...
If you're wondering Bhima ruined it. It actually used to give helpful advice about prednislone and future research but it turned into a weird medical/habituation fuckfest.
She's also the one who basically bans anyone who suggests prednislone to someone who just got tinnitus. At least the other three mods arent active. No moderation is better than bad moderation.
