Yeah, the BTA don't really do a good enough job of highlighting the awful extremes, neither do a lot of the medial. Probably partially because they don't want to inspire more.
I believe the unendurable bit is the doctor's verdict, however:
Contrary to a widely-held opinion, people suffering from mental health problems normally have sufficient capacity of discernment to decide whether they
would like to continue living or end their life.
Therefore, and as a general rule, they are entitled to ask for an accompanied suicide and receive assistance just as much as people suffering from physical health problems, in order to avoid the high risk of failure
The same applies to healthy people who wish to end their life because they feel that it has become too arduous for them due to old age. There are no rational reasons to patronise these people through paternalism.
@jay777 - Apparently the mixture of poison is doesn't taste very nice. They suggest you could eat some sort of fruit immediately after - I don't know why you'd be so concerned about taste, as you'll fall asleep and die within minutes.
I guess we could fly out and down them like shots and have a bite of lime afterwards, like a tequila slammer.
Why is it even anyone else's business why someone wants to die? Sell the stuff to whoever wants it. Maybe have a 24 hour waiting period (like with guns & marriage) to avoid drunken stupidity. And after that, let it be "my body, my choice."
So the planet is overpopulated? There's not enough food, housing, jobs, health care for everyone? But if you want to die, they won't give you a damn suicide pill? The logic escapes me.
I rather email a certain guy in Mexico and pay 500 dollars for a peaceful death then paying 10,500 .......to be completely honest.....But as of now, I intend to stick around......for now.
