Ohh I know it's scary. Can you have a sonogram instead? How loud is a CT scan anyways?
Johan_L
I have severe H with LDLs in the 50s I think. I have done two CT scans within the last month and I was OK. They are quick (10 seconds) and not especially noisy. Use foam plugs and Earmuffs and you will not hear a thing.
SugarMagnolia
@OnceUponaTime I already had the sonogram. The CT scan is next. The noise is only one of my fears. I have multiple fears. They make you drink some liquid which can't possibly be healthy. They shoot you with radiation which is harmful to human tissue. And they're terrifying machines that I don't want to be inside of.
SugarMagnolia
@Johan_L Are you concerned about all the radiation?
Gman
CT scans don't make noise. It's like an xray, as such it carries a slightly higher risk for cancer. I would be doing some research on the forum into side effects of the contrast dye. I had one without dye and it was fine. They're so low res compared to MRI.
Johan_L
@SugarMagnolia Unless you do ALOT of CTs there is no need to worry about the radiation. You are more likely to get hit by a car than get cancer from one CT scan. I had contrast dye injected into my spine and I did not notice any side effects. There is no need to worry...

@Johan_L I only eat organic vegan whole foods, and whatever is in that drink is not a whole food. I read a little about it and it causes vomiting, hives, and swelling and sometimes even kidney damage. There's a reason I only eat whole foods and that is to stay healthy. I don't like the idea of drinking poison. I'm sick with worry because how can they improve my health by damaging my health? This is madness!

I'm going to die because I'm too afraid of a CT scan! This, my friends, is what mental illness really looks like. Forget the cutesy stuff on TV about people who like things organized or alphabetized. Mental illness is knowing in your heart that a CT scan is a worse fate than death.
SugarMagnolia
@Gman I don't know if I would have to take the dye. I'm still researching the safety of this procedure. From what I read it's not something I can handle mentally.
