Plugs might be good for now for things like malls or traffic. There's pro- and anti-plug camps on this board. I'm personally somewhere inbetween, but I think you need to test and learn at this stage.
I've read that pink noise can be used to heal hyperacusis (not sure if this is true or not). You can try to listen to pink noise for a few hours a day to see if this helps.
Did it feel to you like it was too loud (even though you knew that it was the same volume as it has always been, the volume used to be ok in the past)? Was there music there, or was it just the sound of many people talking?
@Bill Bauer I've had feeling lately that world is louder than before. It did not feel too loud, but louder than usual. I know that the sounds are at the same volume as before. I guess there were too many noises. Music, talking, etc. Noisy places :(
Normally, if something is loud enough to cause a major spike, it feels uncomfortable to be near it... It is too bad that your body doesn't seem to give you any warning...
If you feel pressure, perhaps your ENT could do something about it...
As for people talking, I remember seeing a number of posts where people shared getting serious spikes following attending a restaurant where there was no music, but there the background noise of people talking.
@Bill Bauer the teacher said turn around & talk to the person next to you, small class, 22 students, it was hard to hear the person next to me as it was loud :( i got out after about 2 minutes... what do you think :(
