  • Markku, thank you very much for taking the time to do what I asked you to do and for doing it so quickly. This is the only gesture of support that I received. You are such a good person, and I treasure the friendship that you showed me. I love you and appreciate you!
Hi Markku, how are you doing? I'm a new user around here and wanted to thank you for creating this place to find some support.
Markku, as it is not my place to speak on behalf of the site, I was wondering if you had ever had the thought of contacting YouTubers to spread the message? Particularly gun/hunting and gaming YouTubers. Large volumes of people watch these videos who are all in a position to potentially develop tinnitus. I think outreach to the general public would make a world of difference.

That summarizes it pretty much, Damocles. You'd be hard-pressed to find popular channels to do PSAs out of the goodness of their hearts. They'd rather advertise yet another VPN service. It either requires pre-existing connections with the creators or money. I'm sure there are exceptions and if you keep trying long enough, you'll find a success. But we need to also pick our fights, with the little resources we have.

For now I'm just happy there's an organisation (give you a clue: it's not the ATA or the BTA) making it known to researchers in tinnitus, that there's a collective who are interested in: their work, its results and giving them lots of money if it does what it's supposed to. The rapid advancements in medical technology right now, make this the better focus (I think).

Hi @Markku, A thought. So many mentioned inquiry regarding reporting their cause of their T/H, (other than that little known one for covid/vaccine). I don't think there is one anywhere? A direct easy link/color button on TT's front pg. to report, would be useful? Even if one doesnt want to post but just report. Results for both awareness & present to whomever to make changes for public ear safety.
    Are you doing ok?

I also suffer from various vision related issues, which make life even more problematic. And as my luck would have it, these are not the kind of issues that get better, no. They keep getting worse. So, overall, it's no picnic here. Thanks for asking, it means a lot.
    Markku
Based on your posts, I can clearly see you're in dire straits yourself. Here's hoping 2023 would bring some relief your way.

So sorry to hear. Yeah, everything keeps getting worse for me also. Everyday is a battle just to take care of myself in anyway and get any sleep.
Hello Markku, I am overwhelmed with gratitude with what you have done with this forum. Might you have an official email address that I may reach out to you at as I am very keen to volunteer and collaborate. Please reach out to me. We really should speak. Thanks so much.
Hi Markku, I just want to thank for your recent post on Change.org. (The one started by Claire Everleigh). I am suffering severely from tinnitus and hyperacusis, and it's a heavy battle each day, so what you wrote was just right. Thank you. Also, thanks for setting up this forum. It helps a lot. Have a good weekend, Martin
    Hi Markku

I just saw Hazel's post about the interview you are preparing about Lenire.

I wanted to know if there is any volunteer work I could do to help with the podcast.

I am a fairly fast typer, so I could do transcription. I'm good at writing, project management and researching, so I could do anything like that.

I would have about twenty minutes a day to commit, and I live in Australia.

    Yours

Sorry my reply is late, Emma. We are very grateful for your offer. We will reach out to you soon and we can together think how your skills & time can be put to best use. I'm sure there's plenty of opportunities by just looking at what you're good at!
Hey Markku, I think that I'm in the same country as you. Could you maybe PM me so I could ask your opinion on a good practioner here that actually takes tinnitus seriously?
Hello Markku, Hope all is well! How goes the battle; I hope you are doing good!
I still have good and bad days; however God's "grace" remains sufficient to help me cope!
    Hi Markku,

Just want to say a lot of your posts/responses have been helpful to me. Although I'm not doing too well still, I'm grateful. Thank you. I hope to keep reading more.

    All the best,

    Lynn
Hey Markku. Hope all is well! Look forward to chatting again one of these days. Let me know how things are going? TTYL!
Hey Markku, Hope all is well! Continuing to fight the good fight of Faith! Tinnitus is still here; however I think I have habituated quite a bit. About 2/3 of the time it does not bother me; and 1/3 of the time it still is somewhat afflictive.
With my tinnitus being intermittent I do not know if I ever will completely habituate to it. Drop me a line, and let me know how it is going!
    Markku
Hi Joe, sorry for the awfully delayed response, I did notice this earlier of course!

I continue to be happy about your success, I consider it to be a great success to have tinnitus not bother for 2/3 of time.

Maybe you will be further blessed and it will continue to improve!

I'm still the same, haven't improved, but I guess things could always be even worse.

I look forward to future updates from you!
Happy New Year Markku! Hope things are well for you! Things with tinnitus are about the same for me. I have my good and bad days with tinnitus. It seems as though I am able to handle the bad days better than I use too! They can still be afflicting though. I do not know if I will ever completely habituate!
Father God, I pray for the health of my friend Markku to recover. I ask that you will intervene
for Him, in the name of Jesus! Please multiply your grace and mercy to Him; and bring about
    a speedy recovery!
Good morning Markku. I hope life has been good for you lately. Things are still up and down for me. My tinnitus has continued to be intermittent; 2/3 of the time it does not bother me, and 1/3 of the time it does somewhat. I am continuing to be bi-vocational at the moment; but I am preaching all over the country, LOL. Ttyl!

Hi Joe! Long time no hear. I have had some quite unfortunate developments health wise, but still making it one day at a time!

Very glad you are doing well. Keep in touch.
Hi, I was wondering if there is an option to sort threads by dated created? It seems the only option is by last message. Is that just because I'm on my phone or?

Btw I also love Israel version of somewhere over the rainbow :)
    Markku
Yes, on mobile the selections are truncated on the top of thread listings, but on desktop/laptop/tablet view you have the following options to sort by:

Title / Start Date / Replies / Views / Last Message

But even on mobile devices you should have the "Thread Display Options" — it's found on the bottom of each forum category. Once you click on that, you can select to sort by Thread creation date.

PS. Yes, great song and artist. He died way too young. :(
    LukeYoung
Agreed, he had a beautiful voice. And thanks!
Hope you're ok Markku - my floaters are also increasing. SO annoying. Take care. Jane x
    Markku
SO annoying, well said Jane. One day at a time has really become my new motto after all I have to deal with.

    You too take care :)
    2049v
@Markku, is it still your motto or has it changed?
Hey Markku, So sorry to hear things have been so troublesome! Father God, I pray for my friend Markku in the name of Jesus. I ask that you will multiply your grace, and mercy, and compassion to Him, and grant Him some deliverance! Please answer my prayer starting now; to show Him the reality of your awesome power! Amen!
Markku, how do you deal with floaters?
    Rosie_Rose
I just saw a Retina specialist. I have a 'floater' that hasn't broken apart yet. It is obstructing my vision in one eye. @Markku you are absolutely right - no one can truly appreciate how life changing they can be.
    S
Yet? Floaters don't really break apart. If it's obstructing your vision you might be YAG laser candidate to break into smaller pieces, but idk the success rate
    Rosie_Rose
The doctor said it would break up and become friends with all the other floaters in my eye. Maybe that's why he wants to see me again. :-(
Hey Markku, I hope life is well for you. Its been awhile since we have spoken. I had a rough patch over the Winter with the tinnitus; however lately I was well about 27 out of 34 days. That is about as good as it gets without being cured!
Let me know how its going?
    Markku
I'm glad you've had a longer better period. Do you keep a tinnitus journal or how do you remember so exactly how many good days you've had? I'm not doing well, Joe, my tinnitus is really intrusive and these days I'm more and more bothered by my vision issues. I'm sad life brought these afflictions my way. Let's keep in touch — take care.
Hey Markku. You don't know me but I just wanted to say that you are really awesome and I respect you and what you do for this community so much. I wish you the best in everything you do.

Wish everyone could think this way instead of causing others more pain.
    Markku
Yeah... I have to regrettably admit I haven't always followed that quote myself, but I believe all of us can learn from our mistakes and wrongdoings.
    stacey
I completely agree. It's never to late to learn from our mistakes sadly T made me realize alot of things I wish I had known before. It really changes our thoughts and core values.
We remain greatly indebted to you for creating this forum, such a needed place in finding some solace in our suffering, especially by people who not have any kind of support or understanding anywhere else. What you did for us is immense, words are too small to describe it. Hugs.
    Markku
Thanks Dana — we have so many kind and compassionate members such as yourself, it feels like a second home to me by now.
Thank you for this forum. There is some comfort in numbers. All of your efforts are much appreciated.
