If your plane was made by Airbus, then there is no need to worry. Boeing planes are much louder. However, I've been on many Boeing planes and ended up being ok. You will want to have a seat away from the windows and as close to the front of the plane as possible (those seats are quieter).

I wear Bose noise cancelling headphones over earplugs. Noise cancelling headphones work amazingly well in airplanes, but they can cause T, so the earplugs are protecting me from the headphones. I also carry my Peltor X5A muffs with me. Some people are worried about wearing earplugs during landings. I (and at least one other person on this forum @Alue) had worn them many times and have never had any problems.
