I agree and hope for/want the same. Hang in there CAgirl.

Have you experienced any fading?
CAgirl
@Bill Bauer No not at all, which is very discouraging. May even be worse, but hard to say. This is still all a bad dream to me.
Bill Bauer
There are a number of possible treatments in the pipeline. Things improve due to habituation after about 2.5 years...
CAgirl
@Bill Bauer you don't think it can fade at this point?
Bill Bauer
I just noticed that you've had T since 2014. Haven't you experienced any habituation after 2-3 years? Has it stayed at the same level since 2014?
T

@CAgirl Temporary spikes can last over 3 months, but normally begin fading after 4-6weeks. Even if yours hasn't faded at all yet, there's still hope. It would only make sense to get worried about this being a permanent spike if you don't experience any fading by the end of August.
CAgirl
@Bill Bauer I have had mild ringing in my right ear for 15 years, since 2006. I can only hear it at night or when in quiet rooms. I habituated after several months. This is the first time I've experienced T that I hear day and night. Been a month now. I really wish I could've taken the prednisone. It may have cured me. I really thought this would be gone after a few weeks. :(
Bill Bauer
Prednisone doesn't always work.

Once you get T, it takes less to give you a spike than back when you were healthy and didn't have any T...

Let's hope for the best. If you notice any fading, you can stop worrying, as it ought to continue to fade.
T
@Bill Bauer thats true about fading? I had moments of near silence yesterday, but of course I'm an anxious mess anyway all day today.
T
@Bill Bauer the moments of near silence has been going on for a few weeks. But my anxiety is super high. I just want it to go. I know it takes time but I'm so worked up over this.
Bill Bauer
Like joints, ears take months to heal. With almost everything else, we are used to it healing (if it Can heal by itself) within days or weeks.

It's a good sign that you are noticing near silence. Give it another 3-12 [or even 24 :( ] months. Eventually, you ought to have your life back.
T
@Bill Bauer I hope. Hardest experience of my life by far
T
@Bill Bauer and I really just want to hop on a plane and go to Aruba and forget about these last 6 months but I'm too afraid to fly :(
Bill Bauer
Same here. Worse than when my dad was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 42 when I was 15.
T
@Bill Bauer so sorry. Yea I've never experienced anything as horrific as this in my life.
T
@Bill Bauer i hung out at a friend pool last week. I got into my car and I got the craziest "loudness" in my car. Stayed that way til I got home. Hyperacusis? Reactivity? I can't stand this anymore!!!
Bill Bauer
I used to get spikes after being exposed to the noise of the car's engine. Were you exposed to any loud noises at the pool, or was it just people talking and laughing? In any case, if I were you, I would wear earplugs during the activities that have a history of resulting in spikes...
