@Freerunner Hitting plates can be very loud, and cause setbacks to some. Were you doing the dishes? Did you use hearing protection?
Freerunner
@Stacken77 I was not doing the dishes. I just accidently hit the edge on a plate on the dish dryer and it touched the adjacent one.

Since yesterday I had a spike but I am not sure if it is due to not sleeping well or the noise.

The thing I am worried about is going to the mall today and sitting in a cafe with 70-75 db of music for around 30 minutes. All of the time I had earplugs in but it felt uncomfortable and I left. Stupid me, I just wanted to feel normal again but may have caused more damage.

I also noticed PC fans are spiking my tinnitus. When I play fifa for 30 minutes I have a spike for 1-2 hours afterwards.

The bad thing is that I cannot restrict myself from noise because I have to commute to work and work in the office. I use the earplugs all the time but still - I am way worse after the onset two months ago.

@Freerunner My understanding is that hyperacusis can and do improve for most people, but it can take a very long time. Key is to avoid the sounds which are "uncomfortable". I'd recommend using double protection on your commute to work, and some very good ear plugs while at work. If it doesn't work, you may have to take a month or two off.

Can going to the cafe cause permanent worsening? How do you think? I have a spike since the morning but I am not sure if it is louder now after the music or not.

@Freerunner my H started from two plates hitting together, as well as adding a new T sound.

@Freerunner If you meant the cafe, then, depending on your sensitivity; yes. I'd definitely get a really bad spike from that even with ear plugs, but my case is quite severe in that regard. I'd stay away from +60dB environments for a while to take care of the hyperacusis.
Freerunner
@Stacken77 , My hyperacusis is not impacted, however my tinnitus is. All sounds seem higher than they were. I took 1200mg NAC in the afternoon and I wonder If I should continue with more today or just wait?
Freerunner
Going to the cafe was a mistake for sure. I am just trying to find the balance between protecting and not over protecting. When I feel H is better, I try playing the tv slightly higher than before in order to increase the noise sensitivity. IS this a good approach?
Stacken77
@Freerunner Playing the tv slightly higher is a good approach, but if I were you, I'd take it just a bit easier with your ears for some time right now. The progression seems pretty acute, so just try to live quietly for a while and don't mess with the H. If you can go any time in the day without hearing protection, then that's good. Take it very easy and wait some more before challenging your boundaries.

@Stacken77 , My T and H are through the roof today. my H has not been that bad ever. I have pain and every sound irritates me. At least H was getting better but now I ruined it.
Freerunner
Hissing tinnitus sound is now more like a screeching and it does not subside. All other sounds I have are also higher and more bothersome. I did a really stupid mistake and 30 minutes of 70-75 music and people talking will cost me a lot for sure.
