Ey Leila, well I don't think I 'll put my German to the test It's a bit rusty since I've left high school in 2009.
Have you ever been to the Netherlands? I bet you know more about my country than I know about yours. I've only been to Aachen and Mönchengladbach (don't ask me why)
I'm not sure you'll win that bet, @Christiaan :) I had a lovely Dutch flatmate for a year who used to / probably still does live on Terschelling and made the most amazing Christmas dinners. Apart from that, I've only been to Tilburg because a friend had an extra ticket for the Road Burn Festival. I loved that everybody was sooo very friendly and polite! Cool music, too :)
Ah, Terschelling. One of those small islands where they speak Frisian. You must at least have picked up on some of those Frisian words. Even though I'm part Frisian, I couldn't understand it even if I try.
I hope you'll visit the Netherlands some day. Tilburg is quite different from the typical dutch city, as it is very modern in architecture and most cities luckily have historical city centres and other big music venues, like rock festival Park Pop in The Hague.
I really liked the little that I've seen of Netherlands and have been determined to go back. Things felt more relaxed there but maybe that was just my holiday high. But now, that the Big Bad C is finally letting up I'll definitely have to see what's possible.
PS: I didn't realise they speak something other than Dutch on Terschelling. We shared a flat with three other people in Australia and used English as a lingua franca
Hi Leila. I didn't know you were a globetrotter. Australia sounds nice. Hope you've enjoyed your stay there. You can surf here too if you ever want to visit your western neighbour, but beware! Even though we don't have sharks, there are a lot of jellyfish around here and they are not so mindful of sea-dipping visitors
