  • Okay guys, I don't know if I'm starting to become an idiot, but sometimes I smell static. Like fresh cement getting poured. lol
Lol, when you look at the monitor and realize your visual snow is stronger, but then you look closer and it's just dust. Tinnitus >>> VS.
Just put a patch which helps with sore back. That shit burns like hell. Rather have T than burning pain from the patch 24/7.
Feeling good, today only once I had a bad period (when tired as shit), but now all good and working to become a software engineer.
Good day, feeling positive and productive (like before T). Maybe T is not the issue, just my sometimes weak mentality. Stay strong guys
    Steph1710
Bloody hell! The ups and downs of tinnitus when you first get it haha. You will be absolutely fine. It's all about staying strong. How I've coped over the past 3 years, is by making it a joke, and telling everyone I meet about it - whether they asked or not!
    GCS
I don't feel that it's a joke but for sure we can't take it dead serious or we will go insane.
    Steph1710
@GCS trust, I don't find it a joke either - but joking about it does help me deal with it. It's just my coping mechanism. Everyone's is different.
Guys, I think I will need a bit of assistance. I need antidepressant, to feel a bit more alive and happy.
    kingsfan
Anything that acts on Serotonin has the potential to elevate your tinnitus. Buuuuut... everyone is different, and there are countless people who do benefit from antidepressants without their tinnitus rising.

I'm looking into trying Buspar which isn't an antidepressant, but an anti-anxiety medication.
    Shelbylynn
@kingsfan this is disheartening to hear. I have anxiety but i also have depression, taking care of my anxiety would help but I wish I could take care of the depression too. Plus my depression/anxiety is pre t so it has nothing to do with how well I habituate or handle t
    kingsfan
I'm sorry @Shelbylynn . I didn't mean to discourage anyone. I'm merely advising anyone who contemplating taking anti-depressants to start very slow and gradually.

But as I wrote before, many people with tinnitus find help from Zoloft, Nortriptyline, Amitriptyline, etc. There are folks on the forum that take them without any issue.
Aaah.... fleeting T scared the shit out of me. Was loud as hell, but it took only 1 second
    Shelbylynn
this happened to me rn and i was like huh are we gonna have a worsening.
Sometimes out of frustration I blast 100db music for 1 second. I don't know why, I'm an idiot

      buttercake

    dude why
    NYCGuy
Please don't that ever again, I understand the frustration but doing more damage is never a good thing.
Why is loud cooler? Why is loud good for our depression, anger, mood, energy? Why? Why? Why?
Guys, will I be successful even with T? I was working so hard to be a great programmer, but this T fucks up my relaxation and productivity.
    Stacken77
I'm completely convinced that you can be equally successful and productive. If you just don't worsen things further, and let habituation do it's thing in the months and years ahead. I graduated with a bachelors in Software Engineering while navigating this, and have since written many thousand lines of code. The tinnitus don't get to me emotionally anymore (unless it spikes) and do not impact my concentration at all
    Stacken77
My 2 cents though; what is the point of being "successful" in life? Why should we push and stress ourselves up the corporate ladders? I settle for simply being thankful for having a job, food on the table, loved ones around me, and roof over my head. Tinnitus, if anything, has taught me that. That's just my way of looking at it. Just relax and be kind to yourself.
    GCS
@Stacken77 because success after hard work made me happy. I was happy that I'm a competent person, and it made sense for my existence. I was doing it because of myself and I miss it a lot
Why do I have to have emotions? If I would had emotions I wouldn't have blasted music... stupid fucking me...
    Stacken77
Buddy @GCS, please, leave the event in the past and look ahead. We'll just be miserable if we dwell on it. I think you'd develop tinnitus sooner or later, it just happened to be that day. I don't think emotions is our culprit, we simply didn't know, and didn't care. We didn't know how easy it can be to cause tinnitus, and we had no idea how hard it can be to live with. Now we know, but it's too late.
    Shelbylynn
We can't help that we like music loud, something is pleasing about it to the brain. But we need better public education/info on hearing damage
Guys, I think I'm going off this forum and everything about T. I can't change it, so there is no reason to waste time on it.
I'm a big gym guy and I remembered in the car that song, which we blated when lifting. Sound Rusherz - Beating of my heart. I blasted it
I completely remember how I got T. It was the last week of the lockdown in April. Next week they would open restaurants and gyms 1/2
Do you guys remember what it was before T? Im starting to forget. I only know that at night it was peaceful.
    Shelbylynn
I've only had t for two years? Anyways yes I remember and the memories make me sad because I miss it, I miss socializing and parties loud music fun, and no t anxiety, sleeping peacefully
    Wrfortiscue
    I sure don't lol
    Steph1710
@GCS yeah I do, but I don't dwell on it anymore. It's in the past. Can't change it unfortunately.
I was always 100% protective of myself, never reckless, but how the fuck did I not know about hearing damage?
I would say Im a smart person. As a 23 year old Im finishing uni and already making more than my parents, but I still got T like and idiot..
Please describe me changing T. How does it work, and is it a sign of more damage than steady T. Thanks
Naaah... those safety guidelines are stupid. I got T from 105db for max of 10 seconds and probably 85db for 45 minutes.
    Stacken77
Yeah @GCS, they aren't accurate. I developed my tinnitus well within the guidelines. They're bullshit. Each ear is different, and I think already compromised ears have a greater tendency to get damaged. It can vary greatly from person to person.
In bed a sleep with earbuds playing my favourite T blocker. I put timer on it so after 30 minutes it stops playing when I fall asleep
I have become a big poster here, lol, not even a bad feeling because you guys are awesome
Feeling good. It's still there, loud but somehow my brain starts to learn how to live with it. Wierd. T is a problem when tired as f...
I have read that Michael Jackson had T. LOL, is that true?
    GCS
@DimLeb does a lot of your colleagues have T in the music industry?
    D
@GCS I only know one guy who I think he is over 50 years old now (I'm 27), who told me after I told him. But I've always been involved in loud stuff (playing in rock/metal bands, and my solo project is electronic music - dubstep, trap etc) so lots more surely have some ringing, but don't say it
    GCS
@DimLeb send me some stuff so I can blast it in my car, lol
Who has a really high T? What is better a lower pitch or ultra high like mine. 16khz gang where you at?
    kingsfan
It's all terrible to be honest with you. So far, hissing and static sounds have been the easiest for me to deal with. Anything pure tone is wretched.
    Steph1710
@kingsfan I love my pure tones lol. It's my intermittent chirping, morse code, and the two note sounds that get me the most. Basically, my ears are a mess with sounds.
    kingsfan
    @Steph1710 I no.. I thought yours had improved =(

My tones literally make my head vibrate. I would give up anything to get rid of them.
question. Sometimes I get a random louder still higher pitch but lower than my 16khz pitch T. It usually lasts for 20 sec. What is that?
Why the F did I needed to read about visual snow. I didn't even know about it and lived 100% normally with my blurry IT vision.
    NYCGuy
I thought the same and I just need it glasses
    Shoon
Same here buddy, mine developed 4 months after T onset, it's definitely terrible without glasses like I'm just in another world haha.
The thing which sux the most is that I cannot rest like before T. I mean I was never resting much because I was hyperproductive but still..
