TRT is just pep talk and sound therapy. It doesn't do anything, other than counselling and sound enrichment to make living with T easier. Nothing that you can't do on your own with careful sound exposure and personal coping methods.
There is also no solid way to treat hyperacusis unfortunately. Some people get better with sound exposure to everyday sounds (desensetizing), others with more silence, others with nothing. I believe it's just time and ear healing on its own (to the extent it can).
DimLeb. Either you had TRT incorrectly or not at all. I have had the treatment twice for the full duration of 2 years each time. I assure you that it is not "Just pep Talk". Hyperacusis, can be treated quite successfully with white noise generators and counselling. One can also try self help, by reading information in my post: Hyperacusis, As I see it.
I have given you links on how to treat hyperacusis Hottopic. The more you listen to people that know nothing about TRT and treating tinnitus and hyperacusis, the more you will find it difficult to habituate. Their advice will instil negative thinking and you will not progress. I have warned you of this many times when replying to your posts on the forum. Try to involve yourself in positive things.
See my hypercacusis is only a faint cricket that competes to noise like the fan and driving in car almost feel like its a hair cell still attached or bent into another or hasnt died in the 30 days of having it its so wierd i dont get pain noises dont bother me other wise
