I'm using an older / more basic version without the bluetooth option (with my tinnitus being reactive it would be a bad idea anyway) and they make my tinnitus more bearable when things get really bad. They don't aggravate my hyperacusis or reactive tinnitus, but the additional noise it quite the challenge to get used to.

@Leila what does your T sound like? Is it high frequency? Do the hearing aids lower it at all? I'm thinking about trying some. I have H, too. Pretty severe H.

@Jared my tinnitus is drone multiple alien bells building up one ear got a squealing fan belt car sound its so many tones i have reactive little buzz to certain sounds .. it helps cause it amplifies sound over it and has masking features there is only one brand for tinnitus here its the Widex ones .. comes with bluetooth for music tv and phone but worried about playing music on them if it make it worse

@Hottopic29 have u tried the hearing aid yet to see if it helps? My audiologist said amplification can help reduce t perception and can help level out H to improve it. She also said some ppl use sound therapy within the aid to help. I'm afraid a bit of both just because I got a permanent worsening from headphones on the lowest volume feeding pink noise.
Jerad
& I did that for 90 mins each day 4 days and on the 4th day I got the new drone hum tone. At the time I didn't know headphones were risky at lowest volume

So I'm afraid that hearing aids having a speaker in the ear could do something bad too but idk. There's a lot of debate abt the differences between aids and headphones. Some said aids are safe but phones aren't.

@Jerad, I've got three tinnitus noises. One high-pitched like a dentist drill, one subwoofer rumble low and the last one's like a landing sports plane. The high-pitch one can't be masked but that one, surprisingly, has become easiest to ignore. It's the subwoofer rumble that got to me the most and the aids do a great job at masking that.
Leila
They also help with the landing plane but that one's too loud to mask completely.

@Leila glad the aids help. I also have the subwoofer that vibrates and the dentist drill. But my intrusive tones are the electrical pulsating hiss wire that zaps/zings. It causes physical sensations of pain and is not maskable. Feels like electrical currents and shocks. Do u have hyperacusis?
Hottopic29
@Jerad i had that concern to but its programmed so i see what it sounds like when they come
Leila
@Hottopic29 depending on how sensitive to outside stimuli you are, it will take a bit of trial and error to find a masking sound you can live with. I only had one aid at first and it took about half a year's time to find a sound I could tolerate and to filter out the frequency my unmaskable tinnitus would react to.
Leila
@Jerad yes, I've got hyperacusis and distortions, too. Which is why I have to stick with white noise since everything else make the distortions unbearable.
