I was recording a singer and even though I had the headphones turned way down, she got really loud up on the mic and it just blasted me. Ears have been screaming ever since. I sure picked the wrong career!!!
Alright, its been about 4 hours since taking the prednisone. Ears ringing has not come down in volume (it seems about the same...maybe even a little louder but I might just be hyper-focused on it). I do feel pretty wired though. I would really like to get a good night's sleep tonight but right now I feel like I just had a cup of coffee.
No I've never taken prednisone, I've always just learnt to live with the increases in baseline after permanent spikes, and eventually habituated again.
@Barry098 I take prednisone on and off for lung problems. I've also taken it for T as well. I'd say get some and see if it helps. I second what @Rockman says. It almost makes my T disappear. BUT, flipping heck it gave me the worst anxiety I've ever experienced when I first tried it.
Thanks @Steph1710 and @Damocles. I definitely feel more edgy but that could certainly be attributed to the increase in ringing. Surprisingly I was able to sleep last night (with the help of 50mg of diphehydramine though). So I see that as a good sign. My right ear is still quite loud this morning. Left ear (which is actually my worse ear) is ringing about the same as it usually does.
Took my 2nd dose of Prednisone a few hours ago and I wanted to give a status update:
My ears are noticeably quieter from yesterday!!!! Yesterday they were about a 6-7 (on the volume induced distress scale of 1-10) today they are probably 1-2.
I still feel kind of amped up like I drank a little too much coffee but I wouldn't say it is a bad thing considering I am not feeling distressed about my ears at the moment. I seriously hope this trend continues. It would give me great confidence going forward to have a secret weapon I could fall back on during emergency situations.
Ringing ramped up a bit in the afternoon and is fairly present right now but it is still below my distress point. Huge improvement from last night's tornado! Another surprise benefit is that the Predisone seems to have completely wiped out an eczema issue I have been dealing with. This stuff is intense!
Ears were pretty quiet today. Not quite back to baseline but low enough that the T occasionally disappeared off my radar throughout the day. I am sort of in shock right now. This has never happened after the kind of acoustic trauma I experienced. On Tuesday night I was sure that I was a goner...I have to say that I am diggin' the prednisone! Definitely going to keep some on hand in case of emergencies.
4th night on Prednisone…wow, this drug is incredible…there have been moments today where I had to stop and listen for my T to be sure it was still there. Even right now as I write this (in the evening), my T is barely audible. That hasn't happened since before my acoustic trauma in August.
