Damocles
Happened to me a lot in the past with fire alarms.
Shelbylynn
@Damocles you should have seen me I had them on in a few seconds and then LITERALLY RAN AWAY. It was an old system from an old home owner and should have been disabled prior. I also am taking NAC. Those alarms should be illegal adt? No one needs an alarm THAT LOUD
Shelbylynn
@Damocles even fire alarms aren't that loud. Insanity

Adt alarm??
Damocles
Yeah, there's a shop across the road from my apartment that has one @Shelbylynn, and they are RIDICULOUSLY loud.

Even across the road from me, with my apartment having all it's vents sealed and double-glazed windows, I still have to put my heavy duty ear defenders on while it's going off (usually for hours - because no one ever responds to alarms in London).
Damocles
Also agreed, they should be illegal. Noise-pollution isn't taken seriously enough. We recently had a debate in UK parliament about public sale of fireworks, which of course was dismissed; because rich as f*ck MPs who live in quiet mansions can't see any problem with dumbass kids setting off fireworks outside people's apartment windows and throwing them onto busy streets...
Damocles
To be honest, I wear earplugs everywhere outside of my home now because of having experienced things like this so much over the last 13 years.

Anyway, good call with the 5 second deployment of ear defenders, and the running.
Shelbylynn
@Exit some kind of overkill security system for folks that are way too paranoid about crime and usually live in neighborhoods with low crime rates anyways
Shelbylynn
@Damocles thanks!all I could do, my parents just moved into this house and apparently the security system wasn't properly dealt with before our arrival. So I was actually INSIDE not more than 20 feet away.
