Did you try pushing the tragus to close the ear and see if the rumbling goes away? If it does it's something I experienced in the past and concluded it was ETD related. It eventually settled down.
Thanks for the reassurance @UKBloke. Feel like I'm on the verge of a nervous breakdown all over again.
Yes, it disappears if I close the ear. Did your ear feel full as well? I am very worried about this. Last time this happened I lost a good chunk of hearing. I had no obvious acoustic trauma either.
It's the fullness that scares me most. I have been really struggling with it.
Sorry only just saw this @makeyourownluck (didn't get notification on reply). Yes, I have ear fullness as well. I believe it's all part of ETD that waxes and wanes, and can be very capricious. What have your doctors said about the hearing loss you experienced?
@UKBloke, I was discharged from ENT without being seen. Not had any help with my hearing loss, got no idea how it happened, did you get any answers from your audiologist? I feel so let down, and constantly worried that I will lose more hearing.
My GP said that I should email the ENT department and complain. She was shocked at what has happened.
@sakrt, I have PT in my right ear. The vibration sound in my left is new (I think), although, It could be that the venous hum I used to get in my left has now became louder and more persistent. Or it's could just be low freq hearing loss, mem, ttts? Who knows..
Trying not to fall back down the rabbit hole. What are your symptoms like?
