  • How are you holding up?
    MartinPihl
Thanks for asking. I was slowly starting to habituate, and tried to stay away from tinnitustalk and try to "forget it" (not possiple".. But today it just went crazy in my left ear.. Like it started all over again.
I have been eating quite a bit of fat and sugar, plus sleeping poorly last night. HOPING that it is temporary :(

    How about you?
13 months in and absolutely no improvement. Still the same 5 sounds + crackeling/popping in ears when i talk. Darn, life can be tough.
Sigh.. Since this morning, every sound has sounded "metallic" and loud in left ear. It came after a loud fleeting T. Anyone else tried that?
    kingsfan
I've had the metallic sound before, not the loudness. It went away after a couple days.
    MartinPihl
@kingsfan Thank you - it is always a little comforting, knowing that others have experienced the same.
Sorry I should've specified mem is middle ear myoclonus. I'm quite skeptical on trying the muscle relaxants because they indicate that it can cause ringing in the ears and I don't want to make that worse. As for surgery it'd be very last resort but cutting the tensor tympani and stapedius. He only does a handful a year and says its 50% chance to get better. How did all your situation start to begin with?
    MartinPihl
That's always such an evil dilemma. Would one risk bettering, if there is a chance to get worse.. I'm barely hanging on with my 5 tones.. if it got worse, i would definitely not be able to live with it.

The clicking in the ear - i have no idea how it started! It was just there one day, and having gone away since. However, There are sentences where it goes away for a few seconds - have you also experienced that, and have you found any pattern?

May I ask whag muscle relaxanrs they gave you Lchops? Did you try them by now and are they helping?
Oh no I'm sorry to hear that. My ent said it's probably Mem and prescribed me muscle relaxants. Last option would be surgery. Is it getting any better for you?
    MartinPihl
    Thanks for reaching out!
What is "Mem" (im not a native english speaker)?

Wow that sounds great with medicine and an option for surgery? I am VERY interested in hearing, whether the medicine helps and/or if you choose surgery. But what kind of surgery did the ENT suggest? It is very intriguing that the ENT even suggested that - when mine said that absolutely nothing could be done :O
How did the apt with your ENT go? Any insights?
    MartinPihl
None at all.. she knew about the problem, but: "no available treatments - learn to live with it".
Sigh. EVERYTIME it gets a little better, a new worsening comes. Went to the dentist who used ultrasound.. DO NOT try that fellow t-sufferes!
Currently suffering a spike from hell, after being hit with a serious round of the flu. Hoping so, so much that it is temporary!!
Fleeting T gone for 4 days. However, baseline T is now higher - keeps me once again awake at night. Why cant this curse at least be stable??
Down to 1x fleeting tinnitus a day!

    That's great!

You did something to help with that?
    MartinPihl
Well, i've been taking lots and lots of supplements, suggested by others around the forum.
But as it is always the case with tinnitus - i dont know if that was the helping hand.. however, now i do not dare to stop again!

Note, that my "core tinnitus" has not changed - only the massive attacks of fleeting tinnitus.
And actually - now i only have them approxmatly every other day!
