Hi Sointu, I was reading some of your profile posts and your symptoms sound similar to mine in terms of sound distortions and hyperacusis. How is your hyperacusis now? Is it so bad that your voice hurts your ears again? What type of sounds trigger your spikes? Sorry you experience this. It sucks.
Sointu
@GG_Ear hi, my hyperacusis has got a lot of better in a year. I handle noise better and my ability to tolerate sound levels has improved.
Sointu
At the same time when my hyperacusis has improved my hearing feels a bit worse overall. I still have reactive tinnitus that is maybe a bit better, handle loud noises more poorly than the average people and have sound distortions and T.
Sointu
But my condition is better compared to the time like year ago or two years ago. I have got spikes when there has been loud sudden sounds, I have gone to decibels my ears dont handle or tried headphones, etc but I do know my limits and when not to push them too much nowadays better.

@Sointu I'm so glad you hyperacusis improved. That's very encouraging (despite your other symptoms still hanging around). What was the cause of your initial onset of symptoms? Sound exposure or medication? Did you have to stay at home a lot in the beginning?
Sointu
@GG_Ear Yes I am really glad about my hyperacusis improving.

The cause of my symptoms were combination of med taper and acoustic trauma.

Yes I had to stay at home in the beginning. It took a long time for my hyperacusis to heal to the point I am now
Sointu
At first I stayed at home, used ear protection at home a lot, was sensitive to sound of electric appliances such as TV, fan sound bothered me. I couldn´t mask my tinnitus for some time and had to sleep without masking sounds. Sounds triggered pain
Sointu
@GG_Ear How is your situation with hyperacusis?
GG_Ear
@Sointu Thank you for your reply. Currently I'm not wearing earplugs at home even though sounds like dishes make my ears flutter and things in general seem louder. Like crinkling plastic is horrible. Also I have a beep/whistle over certain sounds, even voices! It's really sad.

@Sointu I was just at my friends house for a quiet dinner and even though I enjoyed some of it, the sound distortions were distracting. Also now my ear feels raw and achy from all the talking etc.... so yeah. But most of the time I stay at home and don't go out much. It's been since end of June this year.
