Tinnitus Talk Support Forum

Hi @ErikaS :) Thank you for your kind message! The reactivity and H sucks. Right now I'm homebound and feeling in a bad place. I just read @Marin post and felt a bit hopeful, and I think I'll try DNRS and homeopathy (and maybe some diet?). I'm willing to try anything at this point. I'm here if you want to talk too :)
How are you doing?
ErikaS
@Samy there are no words to provide enough comfort given a situation that homebounds you. I'm glad you found Marin's post, that post literally keeps me going and I'm so grateful she shared her journey. I think it's very beneficial to explore all areas. Some poo poo it and say it can be a waste of money and time, but Marin did so much research and took that leap of faith with those avenues and look where it got her.

@Samy I am surviving. I do not have pain or loudness hyperacusis so I do count my blessing on that every day, but the mutli-tones that change/react/magnify to any sound is maddening. I always say if I didn't have reactivity I'd be living my life so much more. I just started working with functional medicine doc, and I am doing some brain retraining things as well. Praying in 3-6 months we both are in a better place.
Samy
@ErikaS I think the same. If I had normal tinnitus (no reactivity and no hyperacusis) I would be living normally. In my case, if I get better of the hyperacusis, I'm sure the reactivity will improve as it happened before. Being homebound is very very difficult psicologically. I'm a young woman that can't work or study at the moment. I really hope we find something that works for us and go live our best lifes

@ErikaS What kind of brain retraining are you doing? I'm using the app Curable for now
ErikaS
@Samy I am not doing a formal approach at this point for that, Im kind of putting pieces together at the moment. Started with my functional med doc, reading The Way Out (pain/brain retraining based approach), and TRT consult on the 25th. Let me know how you like Curable! @OnlyUP said that was huge for her.
ErikaS
@Samy its so easy to fall down the panic/this will never get better path, and it's human to have those moments. But it is true that our brain is listening to us at all times, so lately I've been declaring out loud that I will improve, something will help, and it will just take time.
Samy
@ErikaS Keep us updated about your treatments! Seems like you are doing good approaches. I was thinking about TRT, but I think it's too risky for me with highly reactive tinnitus. Curable for now is helping me a lot with the stress management, and I hope it'll help me a bit with the hyperacusis. Good luck to us!
