It does get better, waiting for it is excruciating mais it absolutely can get better. The first few months were hell, but I have improved so much that most of the time, I only hear the faintest sounds during the day. There are many success stories as well. Hang in there, I know how hard this is but you're not alone <3

I'm well over four years now. I hit rock bottom four months in. It took nearly three to get to better place. It's not perfect and I have parts of days that are not enjoyable, but I'm glad to be alive. Up until a year ago I couldn't have said that.

Yes, it will get better. The noise / sensitivity to noises may never go away but eventually your brain will learn to cope. I know there are people here who will disagree with this because their tinnitus has become unbearable, but you are "only" 3 months in, so give yourself a little more time.

You are still in the early stages of this and it will get better over time. You will find ways of managing and dealing with it :) during the day I don't notice mine unless it's deathly quiet as I can somewhat tune out of it when I am occupied. :)

@Strawberryblonde I don't understand what I am supposed to do when I'm not occupied. I can hear my daughter eating and my son is watching tv and I can still hear it. Does it ever lower in volume? Does the brain truly push it to the background at some point?
SarahMLFlemmer
@Leila I don't have noise sensitivity I don't think, but the volume is torturous.

It does get better! There might be set backs? Hope and pray for better treatments or a cure. Hang in there let us know how you're doing.

@Ondine I'm glad to hear that you can barely hear it during the day, but what happens at night? How do you cope at night?
SarahMLFlemmer
@Ken219 Can you elaborate on how it gets better?
SarahMLFlemmer
@spedgas did it take 3 years for you to habituate?
