I have been checked for TMJ/jaw issues, but I show good tracking and have no other indications. Plus, I know my T came from SSHL. Can this "just happen" with T even if it's cause is not somatic? I'm assuming any physical shift that affects the ear can do something.

A nerve from the jaw connects neurologically to the auditory nerve. Many can manipulate their tinnitus with jaw movements. Just don't over do it, I made mine worse by doing jaw exercises.
