I can't be sure in any way, but all this sounds like Meniere's or some kind of it. You need to see a specialist as soon as possible and start prednisone, vasodilators, antivirals, betahistine and whatever else they can provide you.
@DimLeb I see my PCP in an hour. I'm not sure what she's going to do. She already sent in a referral for an ENT 3 months ago and I've been on a waiting list since.
So I got to see a doctor today (not my regular PCP). He looked into both of my ears and saw nothing wrong. He didn't prescribe me anything. He said that he'll refer me to another ENT and that it'll probably be a couple of weeks before I'll hear back from from them.
@DimLeb my left ear has calmed down quite a bit compared to 12 hours ago (I have a deep fear of it going the same way as my right ear). These episodes started about 20 years ago and I still don't know what exactly they are.
@BeMagnified Did the hearing in the left ear come back? Have you tried to check what frequencies you can hear with that ear (while closing the other) with a tone generator?
@DimLeb I use a hearing test app on my phone. I ran a test while it was happening and it showed a 20 decibel loss on a couple of the highest frequencies (this was on Monday morning). I didn't test on Tuesday but my hearing seemed still muffled in my left ear. I also experienced dizziness that night. I tested on wednesday and it showed an improvement. My hearing also seems clearer in that ear.
@DimLeb Doctors actually wondered if I had Meniere's disease back in 2007 as that's when my symptoms started with my right ear. In 2020 I was told by an ENT that I probably don't have it because my hearing hasn't worsened over time even if it does seem to fluctuate (my hearing has never been tested by an audiologist during one of these episodes. My hearing has only been tested while my ears have been stable).
@BeMagnified Ah I see. The past 2 years that I got T, I have experienced some similar things. My hearing is perfect except for a drop at 2 or 4 kHz which seems to fluctuate at -10 db and -20 dB. One time I expirenced a diplacusis episode for a few hours, hearing 900-1200 Hz at a bit lower pitch in the left ear than the right. 1/2
