@tracyNYC - i was booked in for an MRI for next week, but I contacted the hospital and asked them to change to a CT Scan, which they have done. Is there not a possibility of a CT Scan instead in your case?

Did you find a quiet/open MRI scanner?

Plan of action in case I ever NEED one again:
- locate quiet/open machine
- wear foam earplugs deeply inserted.
- bring + wear my own MRI safe ear defenders over earplugs.

That is petrifying, I hope it goes okay. Worsening T is so awful. I live in New York too.

Is that the quietest model MRI machine?
Hmm triple up with protection is all you can do maybe? I've had 3 MRIs, 2 with just earmuffs with my old T (never assumed an MRI would worsen my T, ignornat or just lucky who knows) and Double protection with my 3rd, also had to have mine done and had to get passed the anxiety of a worsening. All was fine :) Sorry you are going through this. @tracyNYC

If you can find a 1.5T canon pianissimo zen machine they are supposed to be one of the quietest without having to be open. Unfortunately open is much lower resolution but might not matter so much depending on what they're looking for

@tracyNYC - is this to check on your glossopharyngeal neuralgia? - sorry for the personal question but I am pending diagnosis for potential glossopharyngeal or vagus nerve issues too
tracyNYC
@DeanD - yes, it's for the neuralgia. We need a 3T FIESTA or CISS MRI to better see compressions. All the "MVD" neurosurgeons will want that. I'm sorry you're going through this too. I do now question if the MRA portion is needed. That's 15 minutes of scan. Ugh. I'm sorry you are going through this. Good luck to you.

@Damocles - Unfortunately I need a 3T and those are only "tubes". I've got foam plugs and silicone putty over that. We can't bring our own ear defenders so am stuck with what they provide. And they put sand bags up against those. LOL
